go to bed a 8:30 pm read for 1/2 and hour then sleep at 9:00pm (that's what my 9 yr old does)

I would have your 9-year-old get ready for bed at 8:30. Have them in bed at 8:45 and then they can read or listen to some quiet music until about 9. This will help ease them into going to sleep. =)

I found out that each child requires a different amount of sleep.
My first child needed to get to bed by 8 or 8:30 at 9 years old, but my younger son stayed up until 9:30 or so...
It depends upon the child...

My 9 year old son goes to bed at 8. He is up by 630 the next morning for the bus. Children this age need lots of rest.

I increased my 9 year old's bed time to 8:30 and I think that it's a decent time for a kid that age. It's very important that they get to bed early so that they do well in school .My friend let's her son go to bed whenever he feels like and then she complains that he's failing.

At 8:30 I would say but if the next morning they don't want to get up then change the alarm to 7:30 or 8:00.

mine is 9 and bedtime durning the school week is 8:30

I would say 8:30 at the latest on a school night. Kids need their rest!
