Pregnancy & Parenting - 17 November 2007

My son has Autism, and I have been trying to toilet train him sense he was three years of age. We have not made much progress. He can pee on demand but nothing more. He still wets his cloths if you do not tell him to go to the toilet, and we have not even begun to master number two. I would like to hear from people who have delt with this. I want to remind people that my child is disabled so please no mean statements. I will report you for abuse if you personaly attack me because of my childs age and the fact that he is not toilet trained.

My husband and I love the name "Amy" for a baby girl - it's latin and means "Beloved". I'm just wondering if it seems too 80's, though...

my niece is 2 she stays with me almost every weekend. her parents have a guy staying with them who i believe is molesting her. today she told me that eric bites her where her diaper is. she has shown other symptoms as well. i didnt see any marks or anything when i changed her though. my husband doesnt want me to make any calls b/c he thinks it will backfire on us b/c i have called cps on them b4 for them not taking care of the kids and they didnt let us see them for a long time. im just really concerned about it and im afraid the parents arent going to believe she said it or are going to say that we told her to say it. if theres no proof of it will anyone take the word of a 2 year old or will they just brush it off. i believe her and shes also having trouble sleeping and talking about stuff ive never heard her talk about, she has also been calling the guy i believe is doing it daddy to is any of this normal and who would believe it.

Alrighty...My son is now 8 months old and is teething very hard he has 5 teeth and his getting more in...Somedays he screams for hours and I try feeding, walking with him, rocking him, playing with him, baths, and the teething tablets and drops....Well I was talking to some people today and we were talking about teething and I had said that I give my son 1/2 of a dose of tylenol to help him relax bc he screams for hours...I don't give him the full dose bc I don't think he needs the full dose...He just needs something to help him relax...They were telling me that I was a bad mom and I was drugging my child. Please only serious answers please...My son is very healthy he is a lil over 20 lbs and almost 30 inches...if that helps...Thank you all for serious answers...

If a child no longer believes in Santa Claus (but has sibilings that do) should they still receive gifts from Santa? Is it fair to either of the two to deny the child gifts from Santa?

My reason for asking is because my step mom is telling her 12 year old he is only getting 3 presents for Christmas this year because he no longer believes in Santa Claus, while his brother and sister will still be receiving 5 because they do believe in Santa. I personally don't think it's fair to him. I come from a family that have family members getting gifts from Santa and they're in their 50's. I don't understand why she is going to do this to her child, she knows that he will through a fit if the other two get more then him, so why not just be fair to the kids?

My mom wanted to be in the room when I gave birth but I only wanted her there when I was in labor. She was pissed and left the hospital and refused to come see us and the baby afterwards. My bf was really hurt by this cause his family was in India and couldn't be there though they wanted too really bad. Here my mom was right down the road and refused to come. He's really mad at her cause of that, and she's mad at him cause he was in the room and apparently she thought she deserved to be there more. She's also extremely mad at me. I feel like I got stuck in the middle and all I was trying to do was survive labor and delivery. I was shocked when after giving birth I realized no one in my family was even there to celebrate. I'm also hurt, but I feel like I need to do something to patch all these relationships. Any advice, suggestions, comments?

I've been trying to get pregnant for the last 2 years. It's more important now since my grandpa found out he has leukemia and he's 79. My grandma is also having medical problems and she's 87. They both have always wanted a great grandchild.

I got HPV when I lost my virginity to a rape 4 years ago. The doctor says I should be ok to get pregnant since my paps etc have come back ok. He also did some bloodwork and found out that I was ovulating and everything was functioning normally. So why can't I seem to get pregnant? Seems like some people just snap their fingers and they're pregnant. Is there something that I should be eating or doing that helped you become pregnant?

This is the list of my past periods. If you can help me please do! Am I regular?..Which days should I try to conceive on? I'm going by the site mymonthlycycles.com but it hasn't helped yet.

July 30th-August 4th
August 29th-September 3rd
October 2nd-October 7th
November 1st-November 5th

my best friend was telling me how last night she was on her way home from work and a guy stops in his car and waves at her. so she goes over to see and he asked what her name was and where she was going and she said home and he was like wheres ur man, and she said not here and she tried walking away but he kept telling her to come back and he told her that she was sexy and she said thank you and started walking away and he called her back again and he said how he wants to take her out sometime and was asking how old she was and she kept telling him No and he was like but ur so sexy and asked for her number and she told him that her phone was broken and she left. is this sexual harrasement? what do you think of this guy? did he really just want to go on a date or had other motives?

I just wanted to know if any women out there had the same problem as me. EVERY time(since the 33th or 34th week)that me and my husband have sex i get period like cramping pains and contractions, that hurt SOOO bad. Every time they get worse, and keep coming for longer periods of time. Today it happened again an still 5 hours later im in pain. They start off REALLY close together(Like 1 min) and end about 6 hours later coming about 15 min apart. Just wondering if anyone else had or has the same problem.

MY 14 month old has been very good with eating. All of a sudden it seemed like she had a flu, getting sick, she looked ill, so I figured FLU!
Now that she seems better, she's still throwing up her food, she gags on it and it ALL comes up. This is happening constantly and I'm starting to really get upset cause I can't get her to eat.
Now she flat out refusing food, I try to be tricky and find ways to get food into her, she whines, screams, is being horrible about it! And in the end it usually comes right back out.
Whats going on? And shoudl I be concerned that food isn't staying down?
It just seems like all of a sudden she's just gaging on the food, but she doesn't even seem to want it to begin with, whats going on???

I know I'm not supposed to raise my body temperature too much. I was wanting to use the hot tub to help my back feel better. It's been hurting so bad lately. I guess my main question is how long is too long to sit in it. I was going to just do a couple minutes at a time so I don't get too hot, that way it will help my back relax a little. Thanks.

he has been talking back to his mom, yelling, failing shcool, dont do nothing he's told. we tryed talking to him, working it out ect. he started counseling, and we called the police too, but he still didnt come home last night and isnt home yet, cant call either cause we dont have any idea where hes at.

I mean like any type of makeup or perfumes?? I was taking a shower and just thinking hmm wonder if any other pregnant women out there use facewash or body wash or if they change to something more earth friendly or more natural?? Or like hairspary or mousse smells bother you? Or did any of your makeup look bad on you that looked good before you got pregnant.. First of all my hubby and I are foster parents. We adopted a baby boy last year that had been with us for 15 months. It's the best decision we have ever made! He is our angel & we love him SOOOO much!! We also have a foster baby who we got straight from the hospital, he is now 9 months old and his parents aren't doing what they should be to get him back. So it's looking like we may be able to adopt this child also. We are very attached to him & are the only parents he's ever known.
The baby's mother is Bi-polar, has addictive behaviors, & is known for being a violent person, his father is about the same.
The baby has had a TERRIBLE temper for as long as we can remember, and at 6 months he was throwing temper tantrums already!! When he gets mad he will scream like someone is killing him, & hold his breath!! My question is.......Who here believes nurturing a child since birth will overcome the nature of the child? Is a Baby's parsonality genetic or learned?

my 4.5 month old daughter all of the sudden has started getting solid poop, not hard poop but round and firm, isn't she to young to have that kind of poop. She eats solid food already, rice cereal 3 times a day at 1.5 ounces and bananas, pears and peas, about 1.5 tablespoons for breakfast lunch and dinners, she is still breast fed as well. Is she getting to much of something or is this normal, my ped. told me to give her diluted appl or prune juice , but she is to little for that.

Ok, I had my first two children very young, and since I had a boy and a girl I decided not to have any others, when my youngest was two I met a wonderful man who would eventually become my husband. We now have a little one on the way, and I have lots of people asking me about doing a baby shower. I thought you only got one, for your first child. I know we got rid of all the baby things, and everyone wants to get this child something, but isn't it bad ettiquette to have a second shower?? How many of you had more than one shower? And if a friend invited you to a baby shower after they had already had one with a previous pregnancy would you think they were being greedy???

My fiance's 6 year old son says I treat him like a baby. I call him pet names that any mother would call a 6 year old, like sweetie and sometimes Snookie. His mom died when he was just 2 and I'm not trying to replace his mom. I asked him why he thinks this. He said it's because I ruffle his hair and occasinoaly pinch his cheeks. But I never do it infront of his friends. He also says it's because I give him a kiss on the cheek before he goes to school and I leave a mark. I hardly ever do. Occasionaly I'll put a note in his lunch box saying "Hope you liked what I packed! See ya later alligator." What should I do? I talked with my fiance and my fiance's talked with him, but he STILL says I baby him. HELP!
