My husband and I love the name "Amy" for a baby girl - it's latin and means "Beloved". I'm just wondering if it seems too 80's, though...
Thank you for your thoughts!

I think that Amy is a lovely name, and it's not too 80s... the name was also big in the 60s... I think that it can make a comeback now too! Besides, retro is cool in fashion with 60s and 80s clothes making a comeback, so why not a name like Amy?

Really, though, it's a lovely name with a gorgeous meaning. I think that you should consider it seriously. It's lovely and it's the sort of name that is still pretty today. Besides, it is not common any more! It will be rare, unique and perfect for an adorable and beloved little girl!

Amy is a wonderful name. I don't think it is too 80's. There are people out there today still naming their daughter Amy. Go for it

Well my name is Amy... and honestly, I don't see too many Amy's of my childrens age (3-13yrs). I don't ever have anyone comment on my name, but I was born in the 70s, so you know... it's par for my age, lol. If you love it, then name your child Amy! She surely won't be teased about it. It's a feminine name. I think some retro names are coming back into style! Best of luck to you both!

How about Amelia or Amalia nicknamed Amy?

Amy on its own is quite cute but the Amy I know didn't think her name aged well with her now that she's in her 20s. She wishes she had something a bit more formal to use as well.

Perhaps it is a little 80's-I was born in 1979 and have 4 friends named Amy. But who cares? If you like it, use it! It's better than another Maddy, McKenzie or Tyler for crying out loud!

My niece is named Amethyst and we call her ame (amy) for short. I love the name amy. And its not commonly used but a classic so chances of a ton of amy's in her school is rare which is always nice.
