Whatever my mom or dad had in their hands. Belts, wooden spoons, flyswatter, or just their hand.

Ever seen those over sized wooden spoons? Normally are more decoration than use for the kitchen.
Mom had one drilled out with holes so it would move faster though the air. Never was 1 hit, it was at least 5.
Dad tried belt but never could hold me. Gpa threatened belt twice, just him pulling it off made me run for the hills. You didn't f*ck with grandpa.

The worst spanking I ever got was when my father used his belt. He made me drop my pants, bend over and bam! I got it up and down my backside. The next day I had bruises all over my back & behind. They used to say "You won't be able to sit for days after I'm done with you." Well, I could'nt sit w/o being in pain. I also could lay on my back or lean against anthing.... I knew my father loved me. But! He spanked me while angry, he lost control, and I paid the price. Did I learn anything? Yes---don't piss my dad off. Oh, btw.... my stepfather used to skip the belt and he'd use his fists.

Depends where I was, if I was at my grandfathers house he had different colored fly swatters for each of his grandchildren (yes i know very country). If I was at home a belt (ones with holes all around hurt the worst), a wooden spoon, or a hand.

The "board of education" wooden paddle at school-then if word got back home,the belt or what mom called the strap,a thinner belt ,ahhhh,those were the days....

A leather belt. I don't consider using a weapon and physical force against a child to be discipline.

Switches from branches (that I often had to "pick out" myself), once with an electrical cord for sucking my thumb, belts were the usual and sometimes my dad thumped me hard on the head with his fingers.

Hand or belt- and only on my behind. My parents never spanked me when they were angry, it was simple- do right or this is the consequence. I didn't get that many, lying and being disrespectful were really the only times it lead to being spanked. Trust me, I deserved everyone of them!

ohh you mean in the dark ages when i was born?? i was hard headed i got my share of sore backsides with whatever was available ping pong paddles, leather straps .belts the back of the hand was a good method of correction too or how about getting your ears boxed yep u get wisdom in different ways then hehehe!!

belt, switch, hand .... but the WORST of all .... those 3' yellow plastic stips of hot wheels track. OUCH ! Today a person would be in jail for using those.
