As a massage therapist with knowledge of hydrotherapy (including use of hot tubs), I can say that not only use of the hot tub is contraindicated, but as some suggested a massage, that too, is prohibited (at least in the first trimester).
Your body is at greatest risk for miscarriage in the first few months of pregnancy for many reasons; however, as you have low back pain, I suggest plenty of stretching (if possible) and rolling up a towel or two and placing it beneath your knees when lying down.
Also, it is not harmful in many cases to receive massage on your face, hands, and feet. I empathize, as a client of mine this year could hardly wait until she was out of her first trimester to schedule regular prenatal massage with me!
I strongly suggest calling your physician to double check any advice you receive via Yahoo! Answers or well-meaning friends.

I wouldn't suggest using a hot tub at all after reading this.
Hot tubs are only safe to use during pregnancy when the temperature is set at 100 degrees and below, especially during the first trimester. Most hot tubs are set between 110 to 120 degrees, which is too high for pregnant women. If you can't control the water temperature or aren't certain how hot it is, don't use one.
I also suggest that after getting out of chlorinated water, rinse off thoroughly and apply a moisturizer to prevent dryness or itchiness.
I think the best thing for your back is to have your husband give you a massage, it will work wonders, better than a hot tub would do.

unfortunately by the time the heat has relaxed your back your body tempature will have began to rise. Especially with how early in your pregnancy you are it's not a good idea.
i have 2 options for you...the first is to get a detachable shower head and use that to aim the hot water at your back. Second is a heat pack on that spot will be much safer and not raise your body temp as fast. I know you can get the gel packs at target that you microwave for about 4 minutes and it stays toasty warm for quite a bit of time. Plus the gel pack is a great idea since once the baby is here you can actually place the gel pack in the freezer and use it as a cold pack to relieve swelling after delivery.

Please avoid the hot tub!!! It is not good to go into the hot tub in early pregnancy. It can cause neuro tube defects in the baby. The neuro tube is usually finished developing by now, but because it just recently developed, I wouldn't risk going in. This topic was stressed in my Ultrasound Tech classes back when I was studying. Try other things to relax your back, a small back rub or light stretching. Hope you feel better.

NO!! You inner body will raise faster then your outer body! So you wont really know how hot your baby is getting.
You have 1 chance to get this right, to help your baby grow and prepare for the outside world.
The risk is not worth it!!! Even 5 minutes can cause the baby to get too hot and cause birth defects or mental problems
I urge you to not get in!!!

I have been dying to go into my hot tub, but I was told by my Dr. not to because raising your body temp can raise your blood pressure and can cause serious problems.
