MY 14 month old has been very good with eating. All of a sudden it seemed like she had a flu, getting sick, she looked ill, so I figured FLU!
Now that she seems better, she's still throwing up her food, she gags on it and it ALL comes up. This is happening constantly and I'm starting to really get upset cause I can't get her to eat.
Now she flat out refusing food, I try to be tricky and find ways to get food into her, she whines, screams, is being horrible about it! And in the end it usually comes right back out.
Whats going on? And shoudl I be concerned that food isn't staying down?
It just seems like all of a sudden she's just gaging on the food, but she doesn't even seem to want it to begin with, whats going on???

In general, she's starting to act like shes having seperation anxiety to, doesn't want to go to her dad, cries for me. This started all when she seemed sick with the flu.
She has just begun walking too, so she has some frustrations there as well. She's just in general whiney and miserable when she used to be happy.

We did have issues at around 10-11 months old still had a fairly strong gag reflux, and got over it and she was doing fine, she's been gasey the last few days, lots of hiccups, burps and toots. She's still playing with her toys and doing some of the regular, but the other changes I'm thinking have to do with her starting to walk trying to get more indepentant, she did seem to have the flu one day, now I don't know what the problem is.

I would call the doctor, but in the meantime, try the BRAT diet (bananas, rice cereal, applesauce, toast). I would also start giving pedialyte. Give the smallest amounts she can keep down and work up from there.

My son got a stomach virus when he was 8 months old and was hospitalized for a night because he couldn't keep anything down all day and he was starting to get dehydrated. By the next morning he had stopped vomiting, but that was after we didn't do any food or drink for 12 hours. He was on an IV to let his stomach settle. Then we started with Pedialyte, then diluted formula mixed with Pedialyte. We didn't add in solids again until the day after that, and even then, everything was diluted. I found out that after the stomach flu, many babies will have sensitive tummies for 2-3 weeks after. I found that out when my son was grossly overfed by a daycare worker about 10 days after he got out of the hospital. He was throwing up for hours. Then, over the next few days after that, if I gave him peaches, which is what he had been overfed, he threw up again.

Try little bits of bland foods with your baby. Stay away from foods that she has thrown up, if possible. That might remind her of what she had thrown up before. I would try not to force anything with her for now. Let her tummy settle. Just try to make sure she is getting plenty of fluids. Being dehydrated can cause nausea and vomiting, so if you think she is dehydrated take her to the doctor's.

I know how hard this can because my son is just getting over a re-do of his stomach virus. It was not nearly as bad the second time, though. But he does also have a strong gag reflex. I am hoping this will get better as he gets older.

I agree with the other answers, get her checked out by her doctor. In the meantime, offer small amounts every few hours- bland, soft finger foods she can do herself. Or keep out crackers, dry cereal, little bits of fruit so she can get to them if she wants them.Avoid dairy, try either baby formula again, pear juice or watered down apple juice.
She may have picked up a virus when she had the flu and it causes pain when you eat. Or she may have reflux or an allergy to something.
If she sees you are upset, she will get upset! Food issues and kids are normal, so take it easy mom. See what her doctor says first of all. Then offer a variety of foods she can eat herself, it may be she is getting a little independent.
(My oldest only ate peanut butter and jelly for all 3 meals for and entire week! Another time it was macaroni and cheese. Now, at 17, she is healthy, tries everything and is a great eater)

CALL THE DOCTOR!! I am a mother of 3 ages 3, 10,11 and I would never have taken the time to ask unless it's your doctor... that's what they're there for and you pay them well to take care of your family and answer any questions you have so don't be scared! That's what "on-call" doctors are for!

Are you sure she's not having reflux issues, digestive problems. You better get it looked at quick.
