Pregnancy & Parenting - 13 November 2007

Was at the Park today with my 14mo old who is learning to climb on the jungle gym. There are always other kids around, so I "shadow" him to make sure he doesn't get hurt. Today, a little boy (3 - 4yrs old?) spit on my 14mo old when we were making our way to the slide. My mouth dropped and all I could think to do was say "that was not nice and please do not to spit." He continued to spit as we turned around to use the swings instead. I was so upset, not to mention disgusted! This is our first child so I have not been through this before. I know there will be many more instances like this to come (kicking, biting, etc.) so I'd like to be prepared for the next time. I didn't want to just walk away without saying anything bc I don't want my son to grow up getting bullied like I was. How do you tell off another child? Especially when they already have a "supervisor" watching them from a distance? Also, what if they don't speak english? What was the right thing to do??

We share a nanny that watches 3 kids -- two are 5 and the youngest is 3. The other familes daughter was telling them of a bizarre game the kids are playing during the day. When asked where the nanny was, she responded by saying when the nanny puts the 2 year old down for a nap, she sneaks downstairs and lays down on our couch, leaving the two 5 year olds unattended in front of the TV. We asked our son tonight about it and he told us the same thing.

We're paying her to watch our kids, and I found out that she's taking naps instead. I'm furious. What would you do in this situation? My wife and I have different opinions on the situation.

Both kids just turned 5, so they're closer to 4 rather than 6.

I woked up this morning with blood on my underwear like it was my period. I got ready for work and then checked again making sure i was not bleeding and i was not. I did not bleed for the rest of the day and feel fine. Is this normal.

I am a 19 year old boy. One of my best friends, he is 15, did something REALLY really bad. I mean, something I would NEVER do. He sorta like was going out with this 33 year old woman, she agreed and they went out together. she didn't want to have sex, but he did, so he forced her and had sex with her. so, now what will happen? I didn't do anything. This teacher (Mrs.Kroyer) is my math teacher and she was getting on to me just because i didn't do my homework. So, all i said was "Okay you can shut up now" and the class went oooooo. So she gave me a detension for foul language. I didn't care cuz i ripped it up after class, and shut up isn't even a bad word....w/e. But do u think it was fair for me to get a detension.

Ok so I am a baton twirler, and a possible cheerleader and I want to play soccer. Thing is, that most people think those people are preppy, popular, and super-pretty. For me, WRONG-O!!! My favorite bands are Led Zeppelin, Green Day, and My Chemical Romance. I love punk clothing and skater clothes, and I play guitar. I have no clue, If I dress edgy or punk and I am a cheerleader, I no people will laugh at me and call me a poser. And the preps will call me goth or emo, or some other crappy label. I don't really care what people think, but this is what keeps me up at night, amongst school work and self-image issues. I am 13 and usually get 5 hours of sleep, and I lay awake in bed for hours pondering my thoughts in depth as my mind is trying to shut down. I am really stressed, what to do?

i got re-married last year. i have a daughter kasey who is 4, 1 real daughter Sierra and a step daughter Elli. they are both 12. Elli's mom died when she was 6, and now she treats me with no respect. if i tell her to pick up her room a bit she yells at me sayig im not her mom! i know im not her mom but, shes gotta show some respect towards me. I had my period October 22nd. It was a week early. I was trying to convince myself it might be implantation or something but it was a period. Ive been tracking my cycle with fertilityfriend.com and mymonthlycycles.com and it’s been pretty regular (like to the day). And then suddenly it was a week early and very strange (see earlier question). I was tracking my cycle again and using my ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor every day and I noticed I hadn’t had a peak day at all, and it was already cycle day 18 but if I was tracking it with my charts online, I was due to ovulate last Friday or Saturday. On Friday night, my DH and I did a baby dance and I was lying in bed with a pillow under my butt as usual and I heard a yelp from the bathroom. Apparently I had started my period during sex and my DH got a fright when he saw blood on his beloved manhood when he went to the bathroom! So I was a little surprised and I checked my chart and my monitor and it was way too early.
