104 is when you take the baby to the ER. You can give her tylenol and/or motrin and a cool bath to keep her cool until morning, then I would take her to the regular doctor.

I call the doctor at 102.
In the meanwhile, give your baby a tepid bath- not warm, not cold, in between to get the fever down. Wrap your baby up in a clean, dry towel and swaddle or snuggle up if the baby will allow you to do so.

Give your baby infant Tylenol if under 6 months of age. If above 6 months you can alternate infant motrin with infant tylenol.

Call the doctor if it persists or goes above 102.

I hope baby is feeling better really soon!

Our ped says 104 is ER time, but to call him at 102 and schedule an appointment for the next day to have him looked at.

Remember though-if you are taking an auxillary temp (under her arm) you need to add 1 degree to the temp on the display. (Ear, rectal, and mouth temps don't change.)

Try to get her fever down with infant tylenol (follow the directions on the back carefully!) and a cool washrag on her head. DON'T do a cold bath because it can make her hypothermic. Give her lots of hugs and cuddles too because if she is feeling nasty and crying that can make them feel hotter than they are and make their temp under their arm go up even if their internal temp doesn't.

Good luck-sorry your baby feels bad!

Call his doctor and ask about the best course of action. That's what I would do, that way the doctor can meet you there if necessary and you won't have to wait in the ER for hours on end.

with babies and children its better to be safe than sorry [as the saying goes]

I would take an infant / toddler in if their temp reached 100

Find out the reason why, before you start giving over the counter medications

At 100 I would call the doctor. Anything above that I would take them in. You can never tell how fast it will rise.
