I didn't do anything. This teacher (Mrs.Kroyer) is my math teacher and she was getting on to me just because i didn't do my homework. So, all i said was "Okay you can shut up now" and the class went oooooo. So she gave me a detension for foul language. I didn't care cuz i ripped it up after class, and shut up isn't even a bad word....w/e. But do u think it was fair for me to get a detension.

That was very disrespectful.

Keep on this path and you'll be kicked out of school. You respect your elders, no matter what.

And do your darn homework and this won't be an issue.

Absolutely! A teacher, whether or not you like her/him, is due some respect. You do not show respect for another individual by saying "Shut-up." Even if you had said, "Be quiet." it is a blatant show of disrespect. The teacher needs to require respect from you because if she does not, she will find that many more students are voicing disrespect, not just you. This kind of problem escalates if it is not nipped in the bud. She had to give you at least a detention. I think you had better show more respect in the future whether or not you feel like it because this kind of behavior goes on your record and disrespect will never be tolerated in the workplace. Get used to respecting others now so you can do it when you need to get (and keep) a job. No one is going to tolerate insolence.

Maybe shut up isn't a bad word, but it is very disrespectful. Teachers don't get paid to put up with bad attitudes and disrespecting students. They get paid (VERY LITTLE) to educate the future generations. If you are having trouble with your homework or at home so you can't get it done, you need to talk to your teacher, privately. But teachers assign homework as a way to gage how students are learning the material, and if you don't do it, then she will have no idea.

I think it was unfair, but fair you got into detension. Free will on your part, badmouthing a teacher on your teacher's part. Instead of saying something like that, tell your teacher you need to see a counselor, see a counselor and tell them how the teacher is making you feel and see if possibly you can get the class with a different teacher.

Technically she could becuz the phrase "shut up" is backtalking ur teacher and backtalk falls under the category of insubordination and can be considered foul language by older teachers and foul language can also be considered insubordination

Yes, it's more than fair. You should show some respect to your teachers instead of being like that. For one, homework is meant to be done, if you don't do it you deserve a lecture from your teacher.

Yes of course it was. Shut up may not be a bad word but it is very disrespectful to say to adults. Your giving attitude to a teacher what else do you expect her to do??

Is this a serious question? You don't tell an adult to shut up, especially one who has authority over you. All that's going to do is give you a swift kick in the ***. Keep your mouth closed and do what you're told.

You should probally have more respect for teachers...they dont really have to do anything but give you a 0 and make you grade go down..but this teacher cares && obviously wants you to do well.

Sigh. This is one of those moments when I read of a young person who is so obviously.....young.

Pats your head.

Listen. Listen closely. Take notes if you have to and put it to memory.

At any time you are in school and you choose to be disrespectful you best be able to take the consequences.

You make it sound as if you are puffing out your chest being cool by ripping it up after school

Eh...I dunno Doll.

If you were as cool as you thought you were and had it all figured out .....you wouldnt of got online and asked such a silly question in yahoo answers.

Silly you.
