I am a single mother of 3 and went to apply for assistance, ya know a little bit of food stamps and some medical insurance. I work full time and have a few other incomes coming in. They added all my incomes and hours and told me I make to much. Only my kids are eligible for medical, which is fine by me, but what I dont understand is why they have to struggle to have good nourishing meals? The caseworker said that because they havent raised the minimum wage guidelines, that is what is hurting us. Basically minimum wage used to be 5.15 an hour, now it is 6.85. Waitresses made 2.13 an hour and now make 3.43. So the 3.43 isnt far from the 5.15, so it makes it look like we can afford more. Who do I contact, to email or send a letter? Congressman, senator, mayor who would be the one to inform that ppl who want to work still need help? I am very desparate. I am struggling with bills, rent, gas, and food. I work and cant make it. Who do I tell? Thanx in advance to those who care!

my ex hasn't seen our daughter since she was born. she is now a year old. his name is not on the birth certificate because he refused to acknowlegde his paternity for fear of haveing to pay child support. he keeps emailing me saying how he wants us to work things out and how he misses me but he never metions our child. he just acts like she doesn't exist. the few time he has said anything about her (after i brought her up ) he called her "the baby" i want to tell him to get lost but am afraid that i will be hurting my daughter by keeping him away. at least if i'm with him he'll have to see her. but i'm also afraid that he will make her life miserable. i really hate him now and wish he would go away please hel pme what would you do??? i just don't want my daughter to grow up without her daddy i think if he just spent time with her he would love her as much as i do.

We have been married for many, many years. He is a good man - employed, no drugs or drinking, comes home every night, we really don't fight much, nice guy, etc, etc, etc.
Problem, he is really not that good at being a father - he does not hurt the kids - just kind of uninvolved in their lives.
Question, can I still remain married, (the kids are young and still need to have their father around), but act more as a single parent?
My family and I are more than willing to be there for the kids, and husband can be there as much or little as he chooses. Does that work, how do you tell the kids? Or let this kids decide what they want from Daddy?

I just found out about 2 weeks ago that I am pregnant.
I believe I am about a month. I think I am starting to show already but I think it’s the gas I have and the bloating. My stomach is sore as well. Is that normal?
I have been reading a lot of things on the
Internet, about smoking since I am a smoker. When I found out I was
Pregnant I cut down to 2 cigarettes a day. Compared to when I would
Smoke a pack a day. I am really trying to quit but it’s hard.
I read this morning on the internet that if you’re a smoker and you quit
In the first trimester there could be a chance of a miscarriage. Then I read
If you continue to smoke your baby could have a lot of problems once
It’s born. So here I am stressing over this because I don’t know what to do.
This is my first child and I don’t want to screw it up but I need some help here
I don’t want to be 5 months and still smoking nor do I want to risk anything.
So I need so

UGH, one of my worst paranoias ever just came true - my son went downstairs to play (we don't go down there every day, maybe every few days), and there was some old sippy cup down there, I don't know when it was from. I couldn't get to it before he grabbed it and tasted it. EW. I think it was originally apple juice, but when I took the lid off and looked at it, it looked and smelled more like beer; it was like, slightly fizzy. It can't have been more than like 3 days old, but still I'M GROSSED OUT. I have always been totally horrified of this happening.

What can I expect? Is he going to be having diarrhea or what?

Hi, this is really scary now. i had aphone call from my midwife today saying that i need my blood test to be repeated. i asked why and she said that B/T came bak positive for hBV. I have no idea how I could i get it as I've been with my husband for 4 years and i'm 100% sure bout him. We have never done any drugs in our life, so hepatitis sounds quite a big surprise for us...
Do you know anything about it?
Am I right thinking that if I have been tested positive it might mean that i have antibodies but i don't have active virus.?
How will it affect my baby?
I dont have any symptoms whatsoever... nether my husband does..
I have repeate test and awaiting for results...
Thanks a lot in advance

I am 14 weeks 2 days pregnant, and just a few times in this past week, I have felt a slight cramp in my abdomen, followed by the sensation that I was tightening up or that my abdomen was getting hard. I researched Braxton Hicks online, and it sounds similar, but I thought those only occured later in pregnancy? Is it common for BH contractions to occur in the early second trimester? Could they be a problem if they are happening so early?

My doctor briefly discussed this, saying he should take a blood test to be certain and that we might have complications. Can anyone explain this better? If we are both negative will we be fine? Or does the O vs. A have cause for concern?? I read articles but can't find the answer I am looking for!

Her pediatrician said we'll have to consult with a neurosurgeon and discuss surgery to remove pieces of her skull before she is a year old, has anyone faced this before? What causes it and is this the only option? I know I should have asked the doctor but I was so stunned my mind went blank. She's overcome so much, she was born at 29 weeks and weighed 2lb 13oz and is now doing great only to be blindsided by a relatively rare condition that has nothing to do with her being early. Any ideas on how to help the husband cope too would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know of a good travel system stroller that will work well in grass and uneven ground?
I'm shopping around for a stroller for baby #3, ( who's due in 2 months!). I have two joggers that I LOVE, but the problem with them is that neither will work with an infant carrier or hold a newborn well. I've looked at the new baby trend brand jogger/travel systems, but I'm not happy with them because they seem cheaply made.
I'm looking for something that holds one child, cost less than $250 and will hold an infant carrier. It must work well on grass because I walk my older daughter to school everyday and part of that walk is over a grassy hill to reach the sidewalk. I know joggers, but I'm not fimiliar with the four-wheel kinds and most customer review don't mention anything about the ease of use in grassy terrrain.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I am a little over 10 weeks pregnant and the last 4-5 days I have been feeling period like cramps. In the beginning I had some brown spotting, then changed into red, then disappeared all together 2 days ago. I never had this experience with my first baby. I was supposed to go to my first doc's appt last week but they canceled it and now I am unable to get a hold of them to make a new appt. Anyone ever had this experience before? I am still cramping as we speak :(
