I've put off having sex for a month now because I'm considering having a breast reduction so that they don't get bigger and really hurt my back when I fo get pregnant. My only fear is that I may not be able to breast feed. What do you think?

I think you can breast feed with reductions...it's the opposite you have to worry about. They just connect everything right back up properly after the reduction.

I had a breast reduction, and as long as they don't have to do a free nipple graft and the nipple stays in place, you'll be able to breast feed. But, WHY would you do it before you have kids? You're breasts will just get all messed up again. Pregnancy alone will increase their size, an breast feeding is what does the most damage. They'll get bigger and saggier. Most women wait until after the kids to do it. I would if I were you. This isn't a little surgery. You will be laid up in bed for 2 weeks, and not able to do anything really for 3 months. It's a hard core procedure meant to last a life time. You will NOT want to get another one. Just my suggestion. But, if you must, yeah, you can breast fed if the nipple stays in place. But, it'll mess up your boobs again. Just use formula, the kid will be fine.

I had a breast reduction at the age of 18, which was in the year 2000. I would wait til after you have your baby to have it done, or having it done and wait about a year to have a baby. As for breastfeeding, it depends on the extent of the surgery. I can not breastfeed because they had to remove my nipples and move them up. So my milk ducts don't line up. The doctors told me it ws going to be a wait and see game. I might be able to, or I might not. I have 2 children and pregnant with #3.

I am pretty sure the only way you wouldn't be able to breast feed is if you had implants but I would consult a doctor. Just be careful and make sure you research the doctors before you pick one! My friend had a breast reduction right after high school and the doctor that did it really messed up her nipples! She can't breastfeed at all now!

I have the same problem, and asked a doc and he suggested that I wait until Im done having kids because even if I can breast feed after, my breasts wont look the same after and Im just going to end up getting the surgery again.

Im in the same boat though, hun, it scares me that if I have a hard time finding bras and clothes now, what will it be like when Im pregnant?

Explain your concerns to the doctor, but honest to goodness you will be able to breast feed. However you will want to wait to conceive until after the surgery. They don't remove the essential function of your breasts, just remove some excess tissue. You'll be fine!

Also, if you're breasts are that big and you are concerned about back pain, you will want to do that definitely before the pregnancy. Those 9 months are not known for their comfort as it is. You want to be as healthy as you can be before getting pregnant.

Remember, your breasts will change from pregnancy, even after a reduction, so do you want to risk being dissatisfied w/ them again, after already spending all that money?
I have the same prob, and I am pregnant, and my boobs are already starting to get bigger, but I'm going to suffer through, b/c I don't want any CHANCE of not being able to breastfeed my baby, AND I'll be able to get exactly what I want, and my breasts will stay that way when I do get the surgery

I would wait until after you breastfeed, my breast lost 2 whole sizes after I did. I went from a 36 G to a 34 E. That could be the reduction you are hoping for.

I can't see why you would not be able to breastfeed unless they have to do an incision through the nipple, and that usually only occurs when women get implants and do not have enough surrounding tissue. However, I would be careful with getting them reduced BEFORE having a baby because they are going to get larger and there is no guarantee that they will reduce back to post-surgery size. I have had two children and since then I have gone from a DD to a G. Just food for thought.

I would wait until after you finish breast feeding b/c your body will go through many changes. Once your baby is on the bottle your breast may not only need a reduction they may need a lift. Good luck.
