It probably would not hurt her at all at this point and if you wait much longer she may never take a bottle. I would be a little more concerned about your supply going down if you don't breastfeed at night. Could you pump for at least a couple of minutes? (after 12 weeks your supply would be established and you wouldn't really have to worry). I would probably make up a 4oz bottle if you need to make formula at least until you know how much she typically eats. If she is getting mostly breastmilk a little formula wont hurt her and you could always put what you pump in the fridge for the next night or the freezer for later.

Yes, it can mess up breastfeeding. There's no way to know for sure, but supplementing is the beginning of the end of breastfeeding. ****See, Blondie agrees with me on this! Formula sabotaged breastfeeding for her.**** Believe me when I tell you that in a week or two, your baby will become a professional. Soon she will no longer need your help and you will start to really see the greates benefit of breastfeeding--it's really easy! You really don't want to spend the rest of the year getting up to make bottles. It's much easier to breastfeed at night! Keep going, you're almost there!

Amos is right that laying down will help you, but you may not be ready for that yet. If you can manage, cool, if not, then just keep getting up and going to your usual spot. You'll learn to lay down in time.

If she is having problems latching on you might want to consult a lactation specialist. They can help and your obstetrician should be able to recommend a good one. If you start bottle feeding her at night she might not want to breastfeed anymore once she gets used to a different nipple. But if you decide you don't want to breastfeed anymore, which you shouldn't but it's your choice, you should try a couple of ounces per feeding at that age.

You should wait until your baby is atleast 6 weeks before introducing a bottle. If she's having issues latching on, you can further the complication by giving her a bottle.

Put her in bed with you and lay down and nurse her that way. Its easier on both of you.

Its sage advice I got from all my nursing mom friends, my midwife, my maternity ward, and my sons pediatrician.

I had the same problem. After about a month I wasn't producing enough milk to fill her up so I started her on the bottle as well. It was alot easier for me and she didnt seem to have any problems with it...it only lasted for a few weeks though, then i dried up completely and she went to the bottle full time.
