Okay. So I'm hosting my niece's birthday party in two weeks, and my sister says that she wants them to do some arts and crafts. I don't know what type, but all I know is that she is turning four, and has many many friends. Could anyone reccomend some places for me to go to get the items, what to do, what they should make, etc etc?

An old friend that I haven't seen in awhile is having a baby shower. I haven't seen her in so long and I'm really not that thrilled to spend alot of money on her considering we haven't spoken in 5 years. What should I get for her that doesn't make me look cheap but won't break the bank?! Thanks for your suggestions!

Someone asked a question earlier that said, "would you report someone for smoking pot while breastfeeding".
I said no I wouldn't, only because a) I would talk to her first about the dangers of what she is doing to her child, how the pot is in breast milk and she will get her child taken away if anyone was to drug test her. I personally think that anyone who would do that is the most selfish person and shouldn't be breastfeeding anyways. b) I wouldn't hang around anyone who smokes pot or does any type of drug for that matter.
I only said I wouldn't report them because I think they have a right to know they are going to get their child taken away. I would never and have never smoked pot or done any type of drug while pregnant or breastfeeding or ever. I also think that drinking while breast feeding is wrong too! Taking any kind of illegal or prescription drug will have a negative effect on a child.
Would you not talk to them first? Maybe I am just too compassionate and I feel for others.

We just spent the weekend with a little girl (almost 4) - and I was amazed that the parents allow her to run their house.

Is it common practice for parents to end sentences with "okay?"

"We're going to eat lunch now - okay?"

"First we have to run some errands, and then we'll get you a toy - okay?

It's time for a nap - okay?"

I don't get it. Why do parents ask their kid's permission to do things? I understand that there is a time and place for kids to make decisions i.e. "Would you like to watch cartoons right now -or go for a swim?" But - do most parents allow their pre-schoolers to decide what the schedule of the house will be?

Do any of you do this? (ask - "Okay?") Or know somebody who does it? Does it serve some purpose - or are the parents just unaware of what they are doing?

she refuses to use public bathrooms or go to the bathroom outside. so she would keep wetting her pants and she did ask that she could just wear diapers on car rides and at 1st i did say no but about a month later she asked again and i finally said yes even though i wish she would use public bathrooms and stuff and i once tried carrying her to a public bathroom and i did make it but then after that she wouldn't hold it and would just let it come right out.
what should i do?!

My period started on aug. 15th ; i'm on my 13th day for my ovulation period. I have a regular 28 day cycle. I had unprotected sex on the 25th . He didn't ejaculate inside of me. He was a little wet (precum) . We rubbed it off though.. What's the chances of me being pregnant. I don't want to take the morning after pill ; since there isn't a really high chance of working and kind of a waste of money at this point. Should I just wait it out?

My friend lives next door to me. We now have an arrangement where she babysits my children once a week for 1-2 hours while I go to class, just until my husband get home from work. For this favor she asked $8 an hour. When I do favors for her I get no reimbursement (giving her rides, watching her dog while she vacations, lending her textbooks etc).

She has decided that she doesn't want to go back to her work-study this semester so she has a lot of free time on her hands now. She has asked if she could babysit my children on Tuesday and Thursdays while I am in class. I currently take them to a daycare center. She says she could use the money, plus this way she can "do her homework and stuff" while babysitting which she couldn't do at her work.
My problem is that when she babysits she is rarely on time, thus making me late. She also does things like asking for their carseats so she can run errands and grocery shop etc. She sometimes takes them to her house so she can cook and clean.

Then this moring, I am having more stringy mucus that is just very lightly tented with a small amount of pink blood every once and a while (this has actually been happening all night) Am I lossing more mucus plug? could it be something else. I never had a yeast infection before so I have no idea what that would look like. If it is more mucus plug, what do you think the chances are that my labor will start soon this time. I am 38 weeks, 4 days and last time I was checked, 3 centimeters dilated and nearly 100 percent effaced.

Well my wife and I have six children and all are boys. Aged 11,9,7,(twins)4, 6 months. We are from South Africa, a sport mad nation and we also have a sports mad house. My wife and I have a really open relationship with them and stuff and they always tell us their problems and worries. The problem is that the three older boys Daryll, Stephen and Brent always want to play rugby, hockey, cricket and football. We know that sometimes they concentrate to much on sports and not so much studies and we want them to keep their grades up as well as their sports ability. They are really well behaved kids and they never really gotten into trouble but we know they can do better in school if they concentrate a little more. So my wife and I told them that they will only get to play sports if they do well in school. Is this to harsh or something or are we doing a good thing? If we know give them sporting time will their studies go down hill again? Is this what u would do?

As a parent I was shocked by the amount of profanites used on the Teen Choice Awards last night! Granted that they bleeped them out for TV, but I saw little girls in the audience who couldn't be any older than 5 or 6! Avril Lavigne said motherf*ckin for crying out loud! We're so worried about our kids looking up to Britney, Paris and Lindsey, but they seem to not be the only ones we have to look out for!
Not only that, Miley Cyrus was certainly wearing a low cut dress! She got up for an award and had to "hold herself in her dress" before she popped out! Not to mention the various other teen rolemodel celebrites that were scantily clad as well. I just think it's sad that young girls are growing up thinking that's what they have to look like. What do you think of all this?

In these commercials, it's now just about always showing the baby being a girl. A mother and her baby girl. What are they trying to imply, that they think girls are better than boys?(Which by the way, I totally disagree with) They hardly ever show it being a mother and her baby boy.

Does this offend you a little?
Especially if you've had a baby and it was a boy, not a girl?
