I am getting ready to purchase a breast pump and I have heard that some work better than others. Any suggestions?

When I had my first daughter I got one from the hospital that was manual and it was AMAZING!!! I would rather have an electric one now though They just seem more convenient

I love my Medela one! It's really expensive though. I got mine from the hospital that I had my son, though. You should ask your Lactation Consultant which one is the best.

Avent makes a great one, that I wish they had out after i returned to work. I am so jelous of my friend who has one. It can work as a manual or electric and you can set the rythem of the pumping with handles, which means no messing with dials. I have a Ameda Purly Yours and Medla and wasn't very found of ethier, I could never get the setting right. I have used a manual pump by Avent and found it to be very high quality and worked great. They also have great customer service who will help you with everything.

I ended up just getting a manual Avent that worked much better for me. I wouldn't suggest doing this when you first go back to work though b/c you will be pumping atleast 2-3 times a day. I didn't switch to a manual until my dd was 10 months old.

I purchased a Medela Mini Electric pump for occassional pumping and it worked great.

I also rented a Ameda double breast pump, because at first I could to do nothing but pump...she was in the NICU

Both worked great!

I love my Ameda Purely Yours. It's a double electric. I work fulltime and have had two kids and it's been very reliable. It was $180. I actually wouldn’t recommend renting a pump. I did, and spent $120 that I could have just put towards the breast pump that I ended up buying anyway.

Don't purchase a breast pump. Save yourself the money and the time and rent one from the hospital. Those will pump the milk so fast you won't believe it! You can usually rent them for about $40 a month. It's worth it.

Medula or Medela.....i think it is called a double breast one.... they work great!!! it can be turned into a single one while the baby is going away at the other one.
