As a parent I was shocked by the amount of profanites used on the Teen Choice Awards last night! Granted that they bleeped them out for TV, but I saw little girls in the audience who couldn't be any older than 5 or 6! Avril Lavigne said motherf*ckin for crying out loud! We're so worried about our kids looking up to Britney, Paris and Lindsey, but they seem to not be the only ones we have to look out for!
Not only that, Miley Cyrus was certainly wearing a low cut dress! She got up for an award and had to "hold herself in her dress" before she popped out! Not to mention the various other teen rolemodel celebrites that were scantily clad as well. I just think it's sad that young girls are growing up thinking that's what they have to look like. What do you think of all this?

I agree...I know my lil sister who is 10 was soo excited cuz she's a huge miley fan! I watched the last half of it-had forgotten it was on and was just in shock! I'm 23 years old and could not believe dane cook talking about his privates and as he did the went to the audience with young girls and boys who were at the most 10 years old. It was complete filth! It the TEEN choice awards therefore geared towards the 10-20 year olds out there! Plus with high school musical and other disney stars there were alot younger girls and boys out in the crowd. I was huge miley fan before because she seemed to be a great role model for young girls but I don't know about that now! I see my lil sis tonight we will she what she says. If I was a parent I would never allow my 14/15 year old daughter to wear something that she had to keep checking to make sure her twins were still in. SO many other dress options that could of look soo cute on her. I wonder if she got any heat from disney, I heard they had a talk with Ashley Tisdale on an outfit she wore out to an event. All in all I was not impressed or happy with the show. I couldn't stop laughing that their last performers (Party like a rockstar) were all over the place! They couldn't even sing to their own track! The one couldn't even remember the rap lyrics-HAHA!

I totally agree with you! I turned it off when we saw Miley Cyrus's dress. My daughter and I had a short talk about it when she said "Mom, why is she wearing that? It's inappropriate!". And that was from an eight-year-old!
My daughter had been looking forward to the Teen Choice Awards because of all of the Disney stars that were going to be on, but she didn't get to see it all.
I did notice all the bleeps, by the way. It's really sad. Just because kids are in a rush to grow up fast doesn't mean we should let them. I'm always apologizing when I let the s-bomb slip out when I stub my toe or whatever, so I really wasn't impressed by the glorification of bad words that was apparent on the Teen Choice awards. Their target audience is kids 8-16, so I hope they wise up next year. I won't notice, because we won't be watching.

I couldn't agree with you more. Paris' mom gave a speech when Paris was sentenced for that meager time in jail. Her speech went something like " I hope the people that look up to my daughter see what could happen to them if they were to repeat her actions." It ticked me off more than anything because they acknowledge the fact that she is being copied yet her songs and behavior are just terrible.. and if any regular person were to do the things she's done their punishment would probably be more harsh. It's insane.

WI mom certainly seems to be opinionated in every comment she leaves and accepts no messages or feedback to her. Dish it out but can't take it.

My oldest is just starting pre-school this year so I don't have to worry about watching this type of thing yet. But I am a very shocked to hear that that type of language was being used. I realize that to these celebrity type people that type of language is every-day speak, but they need to make some kind of rule on the show that they should not use this type of language. PG only since the majority of the kids who watch this are 10-14 year olds.
There has to be some sort of venue where parents can express their concerns & maybe they will do something about it next year if enough people speak up.

Well the 5 and 6 year olds should go to the Kids Choice awards instead.

Other than that I agree, and frankly, why, when I was a teen and skinny, were all these baggy clothes in.
Now that Im not so skinny, all these skinny clothes are in - uuuugh. I just cant win :)

why were 5 and 6 year olds at a TEEN award show??? my daughter doesn't watch those shows because they are not approriate PERIOD(she is 5 years old)...she watches sprouts ands such...thats educational....not stupid!!! but at the same time...that type of filth had no business being on a TEEN award show....and people wonder why our teenage stars are on the wrong path..PARENTS WON'T PUT THEIR FOOTS DOWN TO THAT SORT OF FILTH...time for parents to be parents and be their best friends...GROW UP PARENTS....

I saw bits an pieces of it and I was shocked at all the bleeping....b/c yes there were very young kids there! I know that mileys dress was low cut, but at least she seemed very aware of it and made sure nothing happened...she seemed to be the most wholesome looking person i saw there......but i thought that the people (celebs) should have been warned about using profanity....b/c yes it was censored for tv it was not censored for the young audience....

I didn't watch, but I certainly agree with what you're saying. This is a kids show for crying out loud. Before long we will be putting horse blinders and "ear muffs" on our kids for everything. Whatever happened to modesty?

I was a little surprised by Miley Cyrus's dress. I mean, not only was it ugly, but it was soo skimpy!!!!

I am so glad we missed it! They say teen choice but it is advertised to much younger kids all day
this stuff is getting old for the adult shows, now they think they can push it off on our kids.
if not wanting our kids to grow up like this makes us prudes,
then prudes of the world, unite!
