I am concerned about my son's lack of speech (he is 2 years old) and my insurance declined a referral to a speech therapist (they will only cover it if it was caused by trauma to the head). I don't want everyone's opinion on whether or not they think my son should see a speech therapist at 2 years old - I am just wondering if anyone knows of free speech therapy evaluations or services in the Southern California area (South Bay / LA)? Thank you!!!

Jekyll and Hyde, I'm telling you. She was always a good kid - kind, gentle, repsonsible, helpful. Now? It's gotten ugly around here. She's stealing (junk food, money, toys from her brothers), she's lying about the stealing as well as less significant things, and she's started dressing up A LOT. I mean lipgloss, jewelry, 3-5 outfits a day, and spending an hour in the bathroom in the morning.

As if that isn't enough, I talk to her about these things and she glares at me. Seriously. Come to think of it, she has been a little more emotional lately too. She says she stays up too late reading, and she's feeling whiny these days.

What is going on with her?

No, there is nothing going on in her life that I can identify. no divorce. No bullies. No bad influence friends. School's out for the summer. She's usually home with me all day, and her best friend practically lives here. She's not lonely.

Anybody have a 9 year old daughter that's kinda freaking you out a little?

A friend of mine is about to give birth and I'd like to make her some nice meals to put in the freezer for her 3 year old so she doesn't have to worry about cooking. Does anyone have any thing that would freeze well and good for a 3 year old? Thank you!

My daughter (7 months old) is currently eating baby food twice a day and I would just like to know when it is appropriate to start her on a 3 times a day schedule? And, what about sippy cups? When is it best to start introducing those?

My friend's 9 month old refuses baby food and only wants to eat "big kid" food now. None of us are understanding it because he only has his two bottom teeth and one upper one, but just wants to be able to chew on his food. Is it okay for him to start on table food this early?

I am pregnant and am naming my daughter Faith. My husband and I are bouncing around different ideas for middle names but are wondering for other ideas. We are wanting an Italian middle name since she is going to be half Irish and half Italian and her last name is Irish.

My wife and I just had a baby boy who is 6 weeks old and he normally is very quiet and has always eaten very well. Today is the first day that he has cried pretty much the whole time he has been awake. He isn't sleeping very well today either. Any parents ever have a kid that can do a complete change in the way they act (i.e )from laughter to screaming. We have tried everthing from holding him, the vibrating chair, swing, cuddling, feeding, but nothing is working today. Is it possible that it is just belly cramps or gas? Please Help --- Thanks

My son is now 7 weeks old. Within the past two weeks, everytime I try to burp him he screams and cries. He will not calm down until he's full. He does have a bad case of colic but, I know for a fact thats not why he's crying while being burped. There is a definate cry/scream when he's bothered by the colic/gas. If I wait til he's done eatting to burp him he throws up(not spits up). And if I try to burp in between he throws a fit. I don't know what to do. Either way gives him a bad stomach ache. I had to switch to Nestle Good Start, the Similac was tearing his stomach up. Could there be something wrong? He's fine when he's full.

My son is 8 1/2 months old. My mom watches him twice a week while I work. The last time I took him over there, she was very excited about the new walker she bought for him.

I know that they are no longer recommended.

But, is it safe for him to use it two days a week?

Also, I'm pretty sure she's not only using it for 15 minutes at a time twice a day. From what she was saying, he might be spending 15 minutes at a time or longer, every hour or more. She said he just LOVES it, and when I went to pick him up he was just running up and down the kitchen floor (the only place he can go in it), chasing the dog and banging into the table.

I'm just concerned. Is it one of those things I should let go for sake of family peace, or is it really dangerous enough that I need to say something?

You have a son. He is 16, almost 17(girlfriend 16) He wants to go see his girlfriend saturdays and sundays and maybe once during the week after football practice for a couple hours. You see him every day. Would you tell him he needs to be home on Sundays because you never see him on weekends?

situation 2

Your son's girlfriend is very depressed because you yell and fight with eachother all the time(parents) and you yell at your son. You try to keep him away from her much as possible because you don't like her? Because she takes your son away from you on weekends. She gets very depressed and starts thinking thoughts of suicide. She has had a very bad past. If she told your son she was going to kill herself and didn't answer her phones, her parents didn't know where she was, would you let him go see her and try to find her?
I am his FRIEND not his PARENTS and the girlfriend has been raped and abused that's why she can't handle stress. His parents are alcoholics.

What do you think is an appropriate bed time for three kids ages 8, 9, 12? They have to go to bed about the same time because their rooms are VERY close together! They share a downstairs "apt" that has a playroom, bathroom, bedrooms, etc. Their bedtime is at 10 o'clock and my step daughter (12 year old) was giving me a VERY hard time tonight about going to bed. She wanted to "stay up and watch tv". I told her no and we had a big blow out. I just want to make sure I am not being too much of a "dud". School starts in less than two weeks here and these are kids who DO NOT sleep in! They are up at 7:30 in the morning regardless of what time they get to bed. Any opinions would be a help!

My daughter will be turning 2 on Sept. 15th. I need Jo Jos Circus party supplies. I've checked with Wal-Mart and Food City, and they don't have Jo Jos Circus birthday cakes or supplies. Can you tell me where I can get toppers for a cake or supplies and decorations? Online or in person @ a store. Any suggestions would be great. Thank-You.

I'm breastfeeding my 2 month old baby and she's been eating every 2 hours since she was born. I've read that the time between feedings should be expanding now. When will she start to go longer? BTW she eats for about 10 minutes when she eats and stops herself, I don't stop her. Thanks!
