I have never restricted the amount of food my daughter eats because she was always a small eater. But now she is always asking for food and I know she isn't as active as she should be she has always been a very calm child. How do I make her understand that she needs be more active without telling her she is fat. I want to preserve her self esteem. I don't want her to get wrapped up in the whole body image thing but I know how the world works. Any suggestions?

My friend has been trying to potty train her 3 almost 4 y/o. Somedays are better than others so to speak. What is the easiest way to do this? She has tried treats, buying her a new toy, telling her vocally how big she is etc. Then it seems as if she falls back. She will be 4 soon, very bright and knows when she needs to go but to no avail. HELP!

My daughter is 21 months old. I am really trying to keep the food with sugar to a minimum. Right now some of her snacks are Fruit cups in light syrup, sugar free jello or pudding, dried fruit, and crackers. She really eats well at meal time. She loves veggies like green beans, carrots, peas, tomatoes, and brocolli. I just wish I had other snack time things that seem better for her. Please give me some Ideas for healthy snacks

I am a teacher and am amazed truly by the number of kids who are being lumped into "ADD/ADHD" ,"learning delayed", "auditory processing delay", "autism", and others as an excuse... (not saying all are this way) In my day of childhood, we would have just acknowledged that some kids need to play more than others.. or are "a little different" - I wonder if we are trying to get all kids to fit the same mold and if they don't, we slap a label on their head and tell them there is something "wrong" with them... what do you think?

Again, I'm not saying all - I've met 1 child in my years of work I really think is add/adhd.. and several children with autism that are obviously autistic.. but what about the others...

Firstly, I am 22 years old, my 15 year old nephew stays round my place twice a week. I am a bit concerned about him because I am almost 100% sure he is getting bullied, he came to mine the other day after school but he didn't eat anything, he didn't say much, he was just lying there with his ipod listening to music. Later that evening i went into the spare room where he was sleeping and he was lying on the bed crying.
I have actually witnessed some other boys his age pushing him around and bullying him.
Whenever i tried talking to him, he just shouted 'I'm not in the mood to talk leave me alone' or ' Go away'. My boyfriend tried to talk to him aswel and he did the same thing.

My fiancee's lil boy is asking questions now about why his wee wee gets hard of a morning. How should we respond to that sort of question. We have been dodging that question for a while, but we are running out of ways to get around the question. He is jest 5 years old, and we weren't expecting that question for a while.

Why does my 2 year old cry over everything? The smallest things make her cry and it goes on and on and on.......It's driving me crazy! I keep my cool with her, but deep down I want to scream! Constant whining and crying, over everything! Spilled milk to not getting a toy at the store!! Does anyone have any comforting words? Like, "It's just a phase!" or "It'll be over soon!" Please someone help me with my sanity!

Planned Parenthood is a complete pain in the ***, i tried going there and they were no help at the Sacramento office. Plus, they are full till mid july! i just want to get BC pills, like i had been for years...but now they dont have time for me. Is there anywhere else I can go for inexpensive BC? I dont need to be referred by a doctor to see a specialist via insurance. Or, like planned parenthood, is there any other place that provides the pill to people who dont have insurance and need them cheap?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or answers for me. I did a pregnancy test 1 week ago and got a positive result. The following day i had some spotting and this lasted for a day. I have done several more tests which still give me a faint positive. Today i have done another test and it has come back negative. I am now 4weeks if i am still pregnant. Can anyone please have any advice they can give me as i am at my wits end.

My wife and I just had an ultrasound yesterday. The doctor gave us fetal neck measurements of 2.9, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.5 . The doctor states that we are at 12 weeks on his charts, we think we are at 14 weeks by ours. My wife is 30 years old, we have two healthy children and this is our third child. He suggested further tests due to the possibility of Downs Syndrome. We taped the ultrasound and I've reviewed his measurements. They seem close to his measurements based on his crosshairs (of coarse I'm going to think they are less). How concerned should we be that this baby may have Downs? I havn't found anything that really tells me actual percentages? We're going to go ahead with further testing at a later stage, for now we have just done the positive/ negative blood test and are awaiting results. Thx in advance for any comments.
