Why does my 2 year old cry over everything? The smallest things make her cry and it goes on and on and on.......It's driving me crazy! I keep my cool with her, but deep down I want to scream! Constant whining and crying, over everything! Spilled milk to not getting a toy at the store!! Does anyone have any comforting words? Like, "It's just a phase!" or "It'll be over soon!" Please someone help me with my sanity!

I'll be honest. Based on our experience, it IS just a phase, but it will not be over soon. It will be over when its over, thus you have to just let her cry/whine if she doesn't get her way. It could be she thinks that crying/whining get's you to do something and until you figure out what it is then she stops. Well, we can't have that can we? You're doing what we did, keep cool. Distract. Be firm in your voice. Not angry. Don't return the emotion, that leads to a disastrous battle of will. But that's just the point: there shouldn't be a battle. Whatever needs to be done in your routine, just do it. Teach her how to react to what you want. Repeat until she gets it. If she doesn't right away, try next time. Good luck.

I hope it's comforting to know that I'm going through the same thing and my daughter is 3. I'm told it's just a phase, I hope so! It's hard to deal with when I have a 1 yr old and a 2 week old that are so calm and easy to handle.

they don't call them the terrible two's without a reason, but sometimes the reality drives you stir crazy, being a mum24 hr a day 7 days a week can be drainning, so take some time out for yourself to do anything you like even if only for a few hours, then grab a colouring book sit on the floor and draw, or get some butcher paper and draw by yourself your daughter's curosity will peak and she will join in try different ways, it will pass but until it does , please take a sanity break for yourself

My daughter did the same thing and just recently stopped (she's 3 1/2)! Whatever you do don't give in b/c if you do she will obviously keep doing it. I know it's hard, but this to shall pass.
