My hubby and I have an 18 month old son and I would like to try for a girl. We aren't financially ready for a second child, but we weren't when my son came along either and things worked out fine. Someone once told me "you are never financially ready for a child, so don't keep waiting until you think you are". Any advice from parents who have been in a similar situation?

Do you think L/D nurses are pressued by hospital politics
to do "routine" proceddures, even if the situation doesn't warrent it?

Do you think that L/D nurses are given a bad rap. if so is it justified or not?

BTW: I'm not "picking" on nurses just to piss people off, I'm been curious about how they and their patients veiw each other.

my daughter is 11 and the school where she goes makes it mandatory for girls of her age to wear deoderant. I've tried teen spirit and suave for her but she breaks out severly. Any suggestions on what is a good kind to buy for her? And does she need to go to the Dr for this problem? Any serious comments would be helpful. Thanks

she is 16 months and all she says is mama and dada. and she doesnt even say those words very often. i am very concerned because all my friends and family who have kids her age are saying real words . Can you let me know what age your kids starting talking. I looked on parenting.com and it said a 16 month old girl should say 50 words!

I was comparing labels, it seems I get a better dose of most vitamins and minerals continuing my multivitamin. Of course I would make sure to get enough of the real essentials like folic acid etc. But do any of you know if the switch is truly recommended? Like maybe having fewer doses of some is actually better?
And while I'm here, does anyone know if specialized prenatals are recommended? I found a brand that sells specific to trimester like no vit A in the 1st bc of its negative effects and then it adds it during the second, and no iron in the first bc of morning sickness (which I'm too early to have), but adds it again in the second trimester set? Thanks!

I'm 17 weeks right now and i have only gained on average of 3 pounds. My pre-pregnancy weight was 104 and i only weight about 108 now. I know there is no actual way to tell, but I want you tiny women out there who have had pregnancies with low weight to tell me how much you think I'll weigh at about 24 weeks. Reason being...I'll be going on vacation to beach-y weather and i want to know about how big I'll be. Give me the best estimates you can ladies! Thaaaank you!

The oldest(Austan) really complains about having to pick up Rett's toys because Rett brought them out. Rett does help but not as much as Austan thinks he should. I tell him as Rett gets older he will be able to help pick up more toys. So for right now mom really appreciates the extra help. Is this ok or should I just make Rett pick up all of his own toys which is a struggle in its self....Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok My aunty is 44 and want to try for her first baby with her new hubby.
She had not had a period for a yr back in 2005 and then had a normal period in 2006 for about a year. She and her Hubby have been trying for a year not useing no birth control.
Now she says she misses some and they last when they come for 2 to 3 days.

She has medical problems she is diabetic and is on metformin for that.
Also she is on other medication and is classed as disabled i am unsure why but she has not worked for over 8 yrs now.
She is over weight size 24 clothes and smokes when she is stressed and she does suffer from depression.
what are the chances of her having a baby and is it the start of menopause????

Can you fall pregnant with menopause???

If it was a pay site that you had to pay to access it. I think if it was a pay site there would be alot less of the petty truly sick questions. Because its easy to access answers from many different accounts to block who they are. If they had to pay for it , alot wouldnt... By atleast 40%

I just wanted to add things to orginial question, things that I left out. Now I do give my child fruits and veggies during the daytime. He also eats gerber snacks, crackers, toast and yogurt for snacks. Most dinner times he eats what ever me and my husband are eating. And before bed he gets oatmeal w/ baby food.

Now, to those who said that I should give him milk or something. I was told that they shouldn't drink whole milk until 12mth or later.

Also, I'd like to take the time and say thank you to all that replied to my question with helpful advice. To those who decided that they were going to put me down and make themselves sound like good parents, I'm sorry for you. I don't expect mothers to put down any other mother about there style of raising their child. Everyone is different and your ideas might not work for everyone else.

One more thing, I should've mentioned that this is my first child and that I'm trying to learn as I go.
