my daughter is 11 and the school where she goes makes it mandatory for girls of her age to wear deoderant. I've tried teen spirit and suave for her but she breaks out severly. Any suggestions on what is a good kind to buy for her? And does she need to go to the Dr for this problem? Any serious comments would be helpful. Thanks

you can buy her the 'crystal' deodorant, it's a natural mineral crystal, sort of like a huge salt crystal, it's natural and not chemical, won't make her break out. it works by making an invisible barrier that the 'smelly' germs can't live in.
Just don't use anything on her (or you) that contains aluminum, because scientific studies have shown that the aluminum is absorbed into the body and builds up in the brain, slowing cognitive abilities, even affecting grades, and many years later, contributing to alzheimers.

When I was your daughters age (I am 27 now) I had the same problem. Teen Spirit made me break out so bad that I had to wear pads under my arms from the blood. The best deodorant for sensitive skin is Dove. If Dove causes her to break out then take her to the Doc and see what they can do. God Bless.
There is also an all natural deodorant but I forgot the name of it......that would be your best bet.

hi there... look for a natural health food store in your area. (like a whole foods, or wild oats) They carry a variety of personal care products, without synthetic chemicals, preservatives, or other irritants. I like Nature's Gate (Spring Fresh smells really good) then there's Jason brand, Avalon Organics, Tom's of Maine (which can be found at many drugstore chains, as well)
Ask a staff member about recommendations for young girls. Probably look for something with tea-tre oil ( a natural, non-irritating astringent), or rose is also good for baby-like skin.
You will find what you need at the health food store. A doctor may tell you the same thing, or prescribe something, but remember, all pharmesudicals have potentially harmful ingredients. Good Luck!! And by the way, I've NEVER heard of such a school law!!!! Happy shopping!!!

I think you should try dove on her. If she still breaks out with sweat you should take her to the doctor and the might give her a special deoderant

I've recently read that the ingredient -aluminum- is what causes the majority of people to break out from deoderant. Burt's Bee's has aluminum-free and it's gentle and smells great!

My son has very sensitive skin, and my cousin (a female) had the same problem so her doctor recommended this deoderant named "Almay". I can't find it at target or walmart, but cvs, walgreens, and the other drug stores usually carry it. It works for a VERY active boy with super sensitive skin, hope it helps!

I would speak to her doctor about this. He may send her to a dermatologist to see what the allergy could be coming from. Check with the doctor first though to see if there are some hypo-allergenic deodorants out there that he could recommend.

Go to the doctor or get Dove Sensitive Skin deodorant.

Doctor first. Why not try a light perfume and daily bath or shower. No one needs to know its not a deoderant.

You could try Dove. She might have an allergic reaction to some
of the products she's tried. Best bet is to make an appt. w/ the doc. and see what they recommend.
