Are you sure? You seem on the more intelligent side from the details you gave me. But what was your score in math? If you didn't do well in math, then that could be a factor. Otherwise, you don't seem like a candidate that qualifies for special education.
However, your school wouldn't just say to go to Special Education for no reason. You should talk to you teacher and ask him/her any of questions. Your teacher could give you the best explanation. Now regardless, Special Education doesn't necessarily mean your not smart and it surely does not mean your a retard. Whatever your case is, I really think you should accept it and go to Special Education. Don't think that your a retard, stupid person, etc. From what you said in your question, it sounds like your not! Still, Special Education will help you to have an easier time in school regardless of your case, and you could even make a few friends. It sounds like your struggling in school not academically, but in some other way. Special Education will help resolve this struggling.
(I answered one of your questions before)

I have a seven year old son that had been in "special ed" since he was in kindergarten because he had problems keeping up with the other children. He only had to do it a few days a week and did it when he got in the first grade. Now he is going to the second grade and is right where he needs to be. I am glad that he had the chance to be there.

Okay...just because they want you to take some special ed class does not mean that you are retarded. So you have to get that out of your head. My own brother has to take some special ed classes...and he's not retarted...he just needs some extra help in some areas including Math (that's the hardest subject for him). Think of this as a way of them helping you....you don't want to get held back a year? Which would be worse....getting held back or suffering through some special ed class? I'd choose the class.

how old are you? im in school to be a special ed teacher, it doesnt mean you are retarded. It just means you are behind others, sometimes you can just go in for a year and catch up. Its not always a bad thing, they are doing when they think would be the best way for you to learn and if they dont have another class for you to attend, that may be the best.

I've known quite a few people who took a special ed class or 2 in their early years of education, and they go to college now. You're not a retard. Your smart and they want to be sure that you grow up to be even smarter.
Talk to your parents if it concerns you, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

if you need the help in math taking a special ed class is really not that big of a deal. I took special ed math and science all through school and i graduated with a 3.0 grade average.

Maybe you've fallen too far behind. What you just wrote there is not grammatically correct and you used no punctuation. Maybe they want to help you improve things such as that.

you probably are very smart (except that you cant spell they) but maybe you dont process things well, or learn things very fast. it has nothing to do with being a retard!
