Pregnancy & Parenting - 23 November 2006

The periods you experience when you are on the pill are not 'real' periods so do the rules of pregnancy tests apply in the same way (i.e. take from first day of missed period)?

I have symptoms suggesting that I am pregnant but I am not sure if they are psychological simply because the thought of pregnancy has consumed me for the last couple of weeks. I am on the pill (I missed one last month) but I really want to know if I am pregnant or not. My period is due in three days but I was wondering that, if these are only 'blood withdrawals' and not 'real periods' would it still pay to wait a few days and see if I get my period or could I take an early pg test now for ease of mind.

If I did take one now and it was negative, what are the chances that the reading is false?

Also, as I am on the pill, could I still be pregnant even if I begin my period on time?

brown spotting for 11daysknow. Im 7 weeks preg. i went to see my mid wife and did an ultrasound and she said every thing looked fine and that was old blood. But i forgot to ask how long it should last. Please help im going crazy!

I would like to understand the whole ovulation cycle. I understand that you will have better luck getting pregnant if you have sex when you are ovulating. But what about the rest of the days? Say you ovulate around the 14th, you have sex around the 20's can you still get pregnant. If you are unfertile on those days, does that mean you can't get pregnant at all?

well I am 14 years old, ye wow, and I am pregnant, nearly four mnts I had to move to Arizona to live with my mom b/c she can help me take care of the baby but my boyfriend who's 16 is still up in Idaho I tried to just let it go, I mean him, and he totally flipped said he want's to spend the rest of his life with me have a family and I can't be with someone else b/c it would hurt him too bad to see his kid and me with someone else. He get's me all soft so I break down he says he'll call me and he might, or he'll wait a couple of days so I end up calling him I believe if he is really commited to this baby and me he should be down here in arizona with me, woriking to support us I know he will have to drop out of school but he's 16 he can I know school is extrememly important but he's failing all his classes anyway and he's been held back so he has 3 years left instead of this one and next he's a dad now not a little boy, his mom won't let him go though I'm pregnant and completely confused

My girl 1urned 13 some months ago and gave me a hard time. She became disrespectful, took to fighting me and disagreeing wth me on pratically everything. Sometimes it was almost impossible to keep my temper, though we've never spanked our kids. My husband went on business trip and some days later I got stressed, work, fights ate home, and spent 10 days in a clinic. During this time my girl changed drastically, became sweet, lovely, apologized for fighting me so much, was of great help and always with an extraordinary good will. She treated me with much love and attention, I can say she was simply WONDERFUL. So wonderful that I myself started thinking that maybe she wasn't so sassy and disrespectful as I used to think, but maybe just childish, maybe she was just looking for a kind aof self affirmation, hormones. Now, I'm Ok, back to work and she is still lovely and sweet, though she is back to her normal life, hanging out with friends, playing sports. But everyday she says Mom I love ya

When I had my daughter, the guidelines for starting solid foods were 4-6 months. I now have a 5 month old son who is giving me every indication that he is ready for more than breast-milk. He's grabbing for our food, making chewing motions with his mouth, crying whenever we eat, and he can sit upright.

What's more, he's now only pooping once a week and wanting to eat every 1 1/2 to 2 hours (after being on a very good 4 hour schedule for about 2 months).

I really want to make an informed decision about starting solids, but I can't find any information regarding why the guidelines have been changed. Can anyone tell me what benefit there is in waiting until 6 months?

I am 19wks 2 days according to one u/s at 16wks and 19wks 5 days according to my second u/s at 19 wks. Which one is most accurate? (i know its only a few days different but i'm really really excited about finally hitting the 20wk mark so would like to know which is more accurate so i know when i actually reach 20wks!!)

Also, does anyone know how much their baby weighed/weighs at 19/20wks? On my u/s pics it says EFW 295g - i am assuming this is babies weight? The doc said everything is going really well and baby is progressing perfectly so i'm not worried, just curious about others!

I'm a little over 12 weeks pregnant and I've been feeling a lot of little "spasm" like feeling in my stomach....it doesnt hurt feels kind of cool....the movements come and go a lot and I'm so excited!...But is it too early to feel any kind of movement?

Also, my next doctor appointment is at 16 weeks....is it too early to find out the sex then?

My 10 y/o little sister lives with me (I am 19). My parents are overseas so I am basically her guardian.

My sis is now 4'9'' and 90lbs. She tells me she is fat and I agree with her and tell her that I was her height and weighed 65lbs at her age.

We both eat unhealthy because I am too lazy to cook. We eat fast food about 5 meals a week. I seldom eat veggies (as I don't like them) but I cook and make her eat them because she is getting fat. She has PE at school everyday so I think she is exercising but I can't be sure (as I usually did nothing when I had PE).

I don't know why she is getting fat. At 10 yrs old, metabolism should still be good. She grew less than 2 inches but gained 15lbs from last yr.

I have an unhealthy lifestyle but I have always been 5'5'' and 105lbs for the past 2 yrs.

I want to help my sister but I don't want to suffer.
