Just think of things like this: Your unborn baby is smoking too, how does that sit with you?, if it scares you than that should do the trick, it did for me, smoking causes miscarriage, low birth weight, premature labor, not worth it for a 3 minute buzz in exchange for a life time of medical problems

It is probably stress. People that smoke will smoke more when they are stressed. Talk to your OB/GYN about the patch. I think that there are some that are safe to use during pregnancy, but get their ok first. The patch doesn't have all the other crap like the tar in them like cigarettes do. Smoking while pregnant can cause your child to have some problems like ADD and ADHD because smoking can slow down the flow of blood and oxygen to the placenta. The people that say to just cut back don't realize that is not good for your baby either. My mom was a heavy smoker and she cut back and all 4 of us kids have ADD so the people that are giving bad ratings for the truth need to do some fricken research. Any ammount of smoking is bad for your baby, just as 2nd hand smoke can cause problems for them too. You obviously don't care about your baby if you continue with your bad habits!

I don't know what country you are in, but in the UK there is a huge amount of help available on the NHS for pregnant women who smoke. Tell your midwife that you smoke and want to give up and she can refer you to get some professional help.
You are much more likely to have a miscarriage if you smoke. How would you feel if that happened?

You are right. You keep thinking that you will never ever ever be allowed to smoke again, so your mind keeps telling you to get that last smoke in. It is however not good for your unborn child as I am sure are aware by now. Do what you can to stop. Ask your doctor how you can quit. Hopefully the first time you get to hear that heartbeat, or see the ultrasound things will change, but for now think of ways you can reduce your smoking.

First of all, it's good you realize that smoking is bad for your baby. But I'm not here to lecture. You are probably more aware of when you smoke than before. If you find it hard to just quit smoking, taper off. Remember, the less you smoke, the better it is for your baby. When you want to smoke, distract yourself as long as possible. It's easy for other people to put you down, don't let it bother you. Just try to quit. Good luck!

Go see your midwife and stop smoking. For your sake for your baby's sake. It is not easy but you are sressing about it which is not good for either of you. Count how many you smoke that will be a more objective way to know how you are doing.
Congratulations on your pregnancy and hope all goes well whether or not you manage to stop.

I think you may have started more due to stress especially if it was an unplanned pregnancy or it could be because you are more "aware" of it. The best thing to do is obviously quit, and you already know that, good luck to you and your new baby.

What right do you have to inflict such a harmful habit on to your precious innocent little baby, When its own mother can't do the right thing for it then who can? You are meant to look after your child not harm it.
