I'm a Kindergarten teacher, and I have made an assortment of gifts to send home. One thing is to make hand prints. This seems to be the favorite amoung parents but also takes the most time. We also have made a photo frame and wrote "cute as a button" and put a picture of the child in there.

When I was in Kindergarten I made a paper angel for the top of our tree. Each child used their picture as the face of the angel. My parents placed it atop our tree for many years. All you need is paper, glue, scissors, and a picture for each child.
Take one sheet of paper and roll it into a cone so that it can set atop the tree. Cut out wings an glue them to the cone and glue the childs picture on. Parents will love it and children will adore being on top of the Christmas tree. Good Luck!

Anything with pictures is a good idea.
There are lots of picture frame "kits" that you can purchase at places like Oriental Trading Company. Or you could do it with things like construction paper. Then take pictures of the kids to put inside it. You can make some really cute ornaments. And if you incorporate snowflakes into your theme, you don't have to worry about kids who don't celebrate Christmas.

When my youngest son was in kindergarten, his teacher took a picture of each child dressed in a white outfit (it looked like a choir robe), and some angel wings. They made a frame with glitter, and other decorations that said "My Kindergarten Angel" it was adorable.

As said in another post, check with Oriental Trading Company they have great mini kits that are prepacked for each item. Also check the Craft store, they usually have suggestions and shopping lists.
Christmas Ornaments are always great because they will be brought out every year and will be cherished, look for something sturdy and can be personalized with name and date.
