Pregnancy & Parenting - 31 October 2006

I'm having baby number 1 and I'm going to a midwife led unit where there are no epidurals avilable (This is a result of the local NHS hospital being a long drive away and being REALLY REALLY nasty, dirty and horrible and me being really scared of hospitals! I went round there to see what it was like and to be honest I've been in pub toilets that were cleaner) . I will feel much more relaxed and comfortable in the midwife unit - I already know all the midwives and have been there for all my ante natals etc.

The only pain releif they are able to offer is Gas and Air and Pethidine and the birth pool.

People keep saying that "might not be enough" and asking me how high my pain threshold is, but I have no idea. I'm not a person who's ever had to have operations or had any real health problems/injuries so I don't know what to compare it to.

I'm actually more scared of vomiting as I have a phobia of that.

How do you work it out?

They are almost 2. They say a lot of words, but not many sentences. The best is "juice please."
They have their own langue and I don't understand any of it!
Is this normal?

WELL MY QUESTION IS REALLY EASY I AM 28 YEARS OLD AND MY PERIOD FLUCTUATES. LIKE I MAY HAVE A PERIOD THIS MONTH AND THEN NOT HAVE ANOTHER ONE FOR LIKE SIX MONTHS AFTER THAT. AND I JUST WANTED TO KNOW BECAUSE ME AND MY BOYFRIEND WHEN WE HAVE SEX WE DO NOT USE PROTECTION SO IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO STILL GET PREGNANT EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT HAVE A PERIOD THAT COMES EVERY MONTH. AND IF IT IS WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OR PRECENTAGES?

I had a D&C on 10/3. My doctor told me to wait at least 1, preferably 2 periods to try again. We were thinking waiting the one and then just seeing waht nature brings. Does this sound like a good idea. Does anyone have any good stories about babies conceived after only one cycle that made it to bolster my decision?

I had unprotected sex, two weeks later I got my period, but it only lasted 2 days, which is unusual for me... Now its time from my period again, and I am late (By a week...) i'm currently taking Elevit (pregnancy vitamins). It's making me so constipated I feel ill. It also seems to cause foul smelling gas. The smell of my own gas is so bad (and I'm pregnant!) that it actually makes me vomit. My mother is urging me to continue taking them but is it worth it?

I know morning sickness is supposed to go away after the first 3 months or so - I had it quite badly and they had to give me anti sickness medication.

I didn't feel too bad throughout the second trimester but my stomach was very sensitive and I had to be really careful about what I ate or certain smells, long car journeys, being too hot etc as that could make me feel really bad.

Now I'm 34 weeks and feel terrible - in fact I've felt like this for a few weeks now. Can't even get in the car without getting carsick, feel ill ALL the time, any little thing I eat will set me off, even healthy, light things like water fruit, veg, cereal etc.

My ante natal tests are all fine, no signs of pre eclampsia or anythign and the midwife said some people just feel like this towards the end.

But I don't know anyone else who does! All the other pregnant women I know in their last trimester feel fine! Am I weird to be feeling like this? Should I go back and see the doctor?

i started breastfeeding my baby when he was 9 days old because he was not able to eat formula then at 12 days he started having dirty diapers at every diaper change and he will be 3 weeks tomorrow and this is still going on. the dr toldme that he would have a lot of dirty diapers so dont worry but it still worries me because he has anywhere from 10 to20 dirty diapers a day...is this normal for breastfed babies

my sister is 2 1/2 months pregnant and she supposedly went to the doctor and they did an ultrasound. she went cause she has a sever headache and nausea. the thing i find funny is that the doctor told her that she is having a girl. i've been pregnant twice and lost both at the 9 week mark so i'm not sure when you can find out the sex but i do know that from seeing the ultrasounds of mine that at 8 weeks they weren't even that big to tell what gender they were. i don't very much now after that point about pregnancy but plz if anyone can help me out here. another thing is that i am somewhat suspious of her pregnancy cuz she refused to see a doctor till today, refuses prenatel vitamins, and when people ask her if she is then she will deny it to some people but to others she will say she is. she just isn't acting like she is or either this is something she don't want.

My twins are almost two and have learned how to climb into each others cribs. Sometimes they fall on the floor when they do this, so I'm thinking toddler bed time. Should I give them seperate beds, or should they share a queen bed? They shared a crib until they were 7 or 8 months and would fit any more.
Do you think it would be harder with one bed or two? And do you think if they are in the same room still that it will even be possible to keep them in their beds at all? How do I even attempt this?
