this is just my own sheer curiosity.

I was brought up in a religious household. We had NO choices of what we were to celebrate. And that meant NO halloween. I never went trick or treating... up until I was 18 I had no idea what Halloween was really about.
Now that I have kids, and I am not as religious as my parents were with my siblings and I, I allow them to Trick Or Treat but I don't take part in it. My husbands parents take them out and around neighborhoods but I don't and this is my last year celebrating halloween.
I am starting to believe it's not an important holiday, a waste of money spent on junk (that causes kids to have cavities). I mean, even if I were to give out healthy treats like pretzels, that doesnt mean they're not getting snickers and goobers else where.
Anyway, I give my children the choice because they deserve to make their own assumptions on Halloween and deserve to make the decision for themselves; one thing I always wanted- the decision.
Anyone else like me out there?

He's 7 and he wants his first Gameboy. I want to get it for him but I don't want him to play too much like I see many kids doing. What type of restrictions do you recommend so he doesn't get overhooked on the game playing? For example, I know one parent who only allows her kid to use his Gameboy at home and only during certain days/hours. Do you have any ideas? If you'd let your child play without restrictions, please don't answer. Your opinion doesn't apply here. Thanks.

What should I expect I'm 28 and mother of 2 okay kids and was told by my health care professionals not to worry about my unborn child having down syndrome since the triple test sometimes show a false positive and I don't fall in the age range, I need to know if anyone had this procedure and what was the out come?

I think this is a no brainer, but this is my first baby. She's nearly a year old. She's been basically only breastfed and we're about to make the transition to milk. She doesn't really care for juice much, (or at least she didn't a few months ago when I last tried to give her some diluted apple juice.)

Her Dad and I drink skim milk. Everything I read says babies MUST have whole / homogenized milk until they are 3 or 4 years old. I'll certainly be following that direction. We'll have both at home.

But... let's say we run out of HER milk, or we're at a friend's place, or we sponaneously decide to go to a restaurant and I can't get home to bring her some "ideal" whole milk (sure I could stop at a grocery store first, but seriously who'd really do that on the way to lunch???)

My question then is: Occasionally, is whatever milk is available (skim, 1%, 2%) an okay choice ?

What would you pick?

a. skim, 1%, or 2% milk?
b. water?
c. juice?
d. soft drinks?

Thanks!

I just wanted to say sorry for all the parents that have children who need special help. My daughter goes to physical therapy for a musclar defect. She is starting to crawl, and some of the children are about age 4 are learning to crawl or walk. I had a little girl come up to me and she couldn't speak clearly, but since I had a mother with special needs I could understand her. It kills me to think of what the children and the parents go through. God bless you, don't give up it'll all come together you will realize that your child is a blessing no matter what you or people say. You are the real parents that do everything for your children. God bless and Good Luck.!

What are your memories when you were pregnant. Do you ever miss being pregnant? Ive had two boys and i loved being pregnant with them. I also have two step sons. So we figured 4 was enough, well i went in to talk with my OB/GYN about getting my tubes tied. And 2 weeks later found out i was pregnant....Im so excited now...I really missed being pregnant. Now i cant wait to feel the baby move and hear the heartbeat for the first time....What are your memories, what did you like the most about being pregnant and what do you miss the most? How did your pregnancies differ? Just curious :)

I am 5 dpo and have sore and swollen breasts and some slight cramping in my uterus. Is it too early to test?

I wanted to know how many people experience cramping. Im 5wks pregnant and have been cramping for 2weeks. It feels like menstrual cramps and sometimes a weeee bit intense. I called the doctors and they said its normal. Im not due for my 1st appointment until December. well I guess my true question is, how long does this typicaly last? any info on cramps during pregnancy is helpful. I dont believe its an impending miscarriage or ectopic, because there is no bleeding or spotting and the cramps are not unbearable.. thanks in advance

I have a 4 yr old son who has been potty trained since he was 2. I also have a 2 yr old in the house that is watching and doing everything my oldest is doing. My husband is in the military and currently deployed and since he left my son started peeing all over the house. I'm tired of popping his butt/legs everytime he does it. How do I get my 4 yr old to start using the toilet again? Any advice or tips would be grateful. Thank you.

Do you think a women who has a child born with FAS should be allowed to keep her child?
I, personally, don't think so. I'm doing my senior paper in school, and I'm doing it on FAS. I was going to use that as my thesis statement, but I can't find any webistes or anything that could be helpful with determing that.
I would really like some opinions, and if anyone has any websites that would be helpful, could you share them, please. I should mention that they can't be ".com" sites. Thanks for any help.

My wife and I have a beautiful baby girl and we are already thinking of the next child. We want to adopt and possibly adopt a boy. We would also like to get a child who is a little older since people tend to forget about them. However we have a boy's name that obliviously did not get used and would like to change our adopted child’s name to it. How old is too old to change a name. I know if you get an infant you can change it because they have not began to recognize it yet.
