Hi, I love it.......... My maiden name was Riley, If you give children unusual names make it easy to spell,
Because i was a mischievous girl, All my school teachers used to call me RILEY.
If you like it why worry what other people think, my name is Terri that is a boys name but i love it,
I wish you and your unborn child lots of luck what ever you name her.
Take care x

Riley is an Irish family name so why would anyone want to give it as a first name. Rileigh is not a name at all, it's just a made up name that has no history. Don't do it. Give your daughter a real name and don't jump on the bandwagon with the other nutters. After all it's the child that has to live with the name for the rest of their life.

I've seen it used for both. I have a female cousin named Reilly and a male friend named Riley. To me, personally, it sounds like a boy's name.
Having grown up with a name that can be used for either a boy or a girl, I would suggest picking one that is a little more gender-specific. It can be hard on a kid to have a name that can go either way.

I think it looks much better as Riley. And it does sound more like a boys name..I'm agreeing with your husband on this one.
Hailey is a good name for a girl.. (or Haleigh)

I hate the way it's spelled. Spell it the boy way of Riley if you want...I think that would work better.

I do think that it sounds like a masculine name (thankyou Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Spelling it differently doesn't change how it sounds, sorry, but I think that your husband is right.

I would have said it was a boys name but where are the rules stating it can't also be a girls name?

I think I like it better for a little girl. That is my nieces name and my friends daughter's name too. I would use it for your "lil princess"...congrats and good luck. Baby names was always the hardest thing for me. We named our little girl Cheyenne. Anyways best of luck :)

It's a name that can go either way. Try giving her a really feminine middle name. Good luck
