This is very normal. I nanny for 3 year old triplets, and they definitely have their own language. Don't worry about it too much.

yes, normal. At 2, they don't say sentences yet. Wait 'til they are 3 to say 5-6 word sentences. They still cannot pronounce all the words yet, even though they understand the words. So for many words the pronounciation is off, but YOU should be able to understand most of it though.

Yes. It's normal. My daughter is the same way. She has a very large vocabulary, but insists on using 2 or 3 word sentences only. I wouldn't worry about it at this age.

I had the same problem with my son.
i kept asking his pediatrician and like always "it's normal".. I called the school district where they evaluate the children to see if they need some sort of speech therapy.
my son did qualify when he turned 3.
he is now 5, but still taking speech therapy once a week for 1 hour in his school. it's helped him alot..
give them a few months, if by 3 they are not talking, call your pediatrician or call the school district near you.
good luck.

Hi Lesley .....my name is Lesley.....My daughter will be 2 in Jan. and i am having the same worry because just before my older daughters 3rd birthday she would not speak much.....I had a speech therapist. come once a week. Now that my daughter is reaching her 2nd birthday her speech is getting better but i still have that thought in the back of my head. right now its "normal" (cause all children develop in the own time) but if you notice its not improving in a few months ask there Dr ans see what they say.......I think speech therapy is a great thing even if its not a great need in your child's life.

Yes it's normal. At that age some kids can ask for pretty much whatever they want in some way. but many can't say anything.
Be proud of your kids, they are smart.

It is normal for multiples to have a little bit delay in language development. Be patient and allow them plenty of opportunities to talk.

my son will be two in march and his vocabulary is really limited. he also says a few words put together. but my mom told me you just have to keep workin at it and make them excited to learn with you. it's normal and when kids this age are around others they learn so much more.

Males (of any species, per Darwin) don't speak much, compared to females, until courtship age. Then they get married, and return to being quiet.
