I am just wondering..i heard that if you sit and bounce gently up and down ona yoga ball, this will help lower the baby and get your contractions going. Is there any other advice you have on helping your cervix dilate? I've heard of sex, walking, tea, castor oil (I will not do this method) nipple stimulation. I am wondering what worked for others. I am 37/3 days pregnant with my 2nd child, 3cm dilated, 70% effaced. My 1st daughter came at 37 1/2 weeks. Thanks a bunch!!!

potty is for, but is stubborn about using it . He exhibits all the signs of being ready to be potty trained. Usually if he is bare-bottomed he will go on the toilet, but now we're on a time schedule to get him fully trained- he's starting a new pre-school the end of Nov. and he needs to be fully trained by then. We've let him pick out his own underpants, tried the potty chairs (which I've thrown out), used the reward system, praised him, read books and watched videos in the past. I'm getting nervous that 5 or 6 weeks is not enough time to have him fully trained. Today I started him on just wearing his underpants except for nap and bedtime. He peed and pooped in all of them and made no attempt to use the potty. When he peed and it went on the floor he said "Look, Mommy". He's a very strong-willed child and will not do something he doesn't want to do. It seems like he knows today is the turning point wearing underpants all the time and is rebelling. Help !!! and Thanks!

My daughter just turned 8 years old. She never washes her hands even though I remind her all the time. In fact....she will run the tap to make me think she's washed her hands...but doesn't actually. It makes no sense to me. She never cleans up after herself, throws her stuff everywhere, even though I tell her I don't like it. Is this normal 8 year old behaviour?

So you're talking to a childless couple and you briefly mention your child. And they talk about their pet's "personality" and how little Fido or Fluffy is so much like a baby...c'mon...

...or people without children who only talk about reality shows and then they question why someone with a child doesn't have time to keep up with such silliness?

My sister's friend(they are both juniors in high school) asked this question and it has gone around the ENTIRE school:
Would you rather be human and mortal, or be an immortal talking duck??? You could be a colored duck if you wish. If a colored duck what color? Why would you choose what you chose??

This is where we're at:
1) She hates wearing diapers or pull ups-sometimes we let her run around for a while with no diaper on, but I don't want any accidents, nor do I want her on the furniture without a diaper on. I tell her when she is a big girl and uses the potty/toilet all the time then she doesn't have to wear a diaper anymore.
2) She does use the toilet or potty every couple of days, but prefers the toilet. She definitely knows what they are for.
3) I let her watch me in the bathroom (I am the Mom).
4)We do reward her for using the potty or toilet (we cheer and hug her and let het flush, and tell her what a good girl she is)
5) She sees the older girls at her day home use the potty and the ladies at the day home ask her if she wants to use the potty and let her sit on it.
6) Any time she says she wants to go pee or potty we take her right away to the bathroom.
Now, what else should we be doing? I feel lost on this subject. How long should this take?

I had a baby in February. I stopped breastfeeding 2 months ago. I got my period for the first time since birth on September 9th. I'm on day 37 and my period hasn't started yet. We had unprotected sex (no ejaculation) on a the first day after my period (mainly clear discharge from period still) and we had unprotected sex on day 28...because I thought my period should be coming any day. I took a test and it came out negative. How irregular should my period be now that it's come back after giving birth?

I can remember being about 14 and of course having the smart mouthed teenager attitude that I did at the time I announced one night at dinner that I couldnt wait to become 18 so then they(my parents) couldnt control me anymore and my dad hit the roof saying as long as I lived under his roof I would be subjected to any and all house rules including being grounded.Do you believe that 18 year olds should still be under parental control? I ended up moving out and becoming a parent at age 18(well almost 19)so I never had to deal with this issue.

I'm 8 weeks, and suddenly without any symptoms. I went from feeling really pregnant, to just some blue veins and minor back pain/discomfort. Could I have gotten a false positive? Do the symptoms really just dissappear? Do they come back? Could something else be wrong? Any similar experiences?

He has been the same weight for 6 months (17 pounds and 28 inches). The scary thing is he eats very well (more than his three year old sister!) Right after I stopped breastfeeding, about a month before his 1st Birthday, I noticed he started having 5-6 bowel movements a day and the stool was almost white and softer than usual. I took him to the doctor and they think it may be the protien in milk , so they switched me to soy milk and after a month there has been no change and no gain in weight. I am at my wits end because my instincts tell me there is something more going on. He is happy and hitting all other milestones, just no weight gain! I should also mention my husband and I are not big people, although this should have nothing to do with his bowel movements. I would be greatful for any advice or similar stories. Thanks
