This one is easy. It does not hurt when your water breaks unless the doctor breaks it (it can them). It is really not thick. It is just as thin as regular water and it kind of feels like you are peeing and cannot stop. And the amniotic fluid "water" continues to be made until birth. So even after the placenta breaks, water continues to come out slowly. And the amount of water depends on each individual birth. Some are flooders, some just what is need for baby. Hope this helps.

Your water is the amniotic sac around the baby that has been its cushion and protection for the last nine months. It can break from pressure of the baby coming down the birth canal or the doctor can poke a small hole in it to get your labor going. It isnt thick it is almost like pee.... warm but it should always be clear in color. If it is dark in color that means the baby has had a bowel movement in utero. Sometimes a lot of water comes out and sometimes its just a little bit depending on where baby's head is in the birth canal. It doesnt hurt when it breaks it is just a warm slow trickle. I hope it helps. I am a mom of 4 and I have plently of experience with "water breaking". I am also a student nurse. Dont worry about a thing. It will either happen or it wont but dont count on it happening... water breaking naturally usually only occurs in approx. 10-15% of pregnancies

The "water" that everyone talks about is actually amniotic fluid it is usually clear possibly tinged with a bit of blood or a broiwny tan if the baby has had a bowel movement while still in the uterus.. It is the consistency of water not thick at all.... There is about 1/4-1/2 gallon of fluid although it seems like much more either gushing out all at once or trickling out over time...

The sac of amniotic fluid is what breaks when your water breaks. It is not thick; it seems just like water. I have given birth to two babies, and with the first, the nurse had to break the sac with a wooden dowel after I had dilated sufficiently. With the second baby, the sac broke while I was in bed at home, and it felt like I had had a bladder accident. When I got to the hospital, I was already dilated to 5 cm, and I gave birth within 4 hrs. It's probably a quart or two of fluid.

Every expectant mother should have a plastic sheet on her bed by the 8th month of pregnancy so she doesn't ruin her mattress in case her water breaks.

The water that breaks when you are in labor, or before for that matter, is the amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby in the womb. It is not thick, it is just like water!! When I had my daughter, the doctor broke my water and quite a bit came out and continued to leak for several hours. It was like a gush of water, perhaps a quart or two if I had to estimate...(or at least thats how much it felt like)

It is just like water warm it is not thick, it does not smell and some times it just keeps coming out so get a towel in your car. Mine broke at home and I took a quick shower and was taken to the hospital and when I got out of the Wheel chair to get into a gown I had a major flood. I did have twins but I think that was only from the first Twin. Good Luck!!

The bag of waters could break spontaneously with either a gush of fluid or a continuous, uncontrollable trickle of fluid from the vagina.
It is sometimes difficult to determine, even for physicians, midwives and labor nurses, if the fluid you are leaking is amniotic fluid or urine. If you are unsure, follow these steps:
Empty your bladder.
As more fluid leaks, collect some on a sanitary pad.
If it has a yellow color, it is probably urine. Amniotic fluid is usually colorless and odorless.
Do a Kegel exercise by holding the pelvic floor muscle tight and see if the fluid stops leaking. If the fluid stops, it is probably urine.

The water is actually the amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby. It looks just like water. I had mine broken at the hospital, and it felt the same as if I had urinated on myself. It was quite a bit of fluid, and it was very warm.

mine wasnt thick, it was just like pee, It was warm and i dont think it had any color to it. At first when it came out I thought I dribbled, then when I stood up more came and I knew that it was my water.
tip: if your water breaks throw a couple towels on the car seat before heading to the hospital, cause you cant stop it from coming out.

The water is actualy something called amniotic fluid. The baby floats around in it . Not to be sick but the amniotic fluid is actually urin the fetus puts out and they breath it in and out while they are in utero.
