I had a baby in February. I stopped breastfeeding 2 months ago. I got my period for the first time since birth on September 9th. I'm on day 37 and my period hasn't started yet. We had unprotected sex (no ejaculation) on a the first day after my period (mainly clear discharge from period still) and we had unprotected sex on day 28...because I thought my period should be coming any day. I took a test and it came out negative. How irregular should my period be now that it's come back after giving birth?

If your period was irregular after giving birth, did you have irregular periods before you gave birth? I've never missed a period...except for when I was pregnant the last time.

My periods were irregular for almost an entire year after I had my son. In fact I would get one and not have another for three or four months. hormones do funny things and you did just stop breastfeeding. Iwould give it at least two more weeks.then you should call your dr to be sure

Although pregnancy is not out of the question, your period can be very very sporatic for quite a while after giving birth. If you partake in any activities that could be harmful to a fetus, it would be smart to find out. IF not, it is up to you as to how long to wait to know for sure.
Personally, my periods took a very long time to come back and then were irregular for about half a year.
Good luck to you!

It shouldnt be that irregular, the clear discharge u are talking about could be your ovulating mucus..Very fertile...If u had unprotected sex and no period take a test, u could be pregnant. Just remember it is VERY easy to get pregnant after having a baby and breastfeeding..Good Luck!

Okay, I don't mean to sound hypocritical here, because I had sex 3 and a half weeks post partum. But FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! Why would you have UNPROTECTED sex at 12 and 15 days post partum? Are you TRYING to get pregnant again?? I have no sympathy for you.

Mine was irregular for almost a year after giving birth.
But... You never know.. I would take a test by next week if you still do not get your period.
You could miss it again for a few months. Everyone is different.
Good luck!

It's not at all unusual to be irregular at first. If you plan on waiting to have more kids though you should be careful you could ovulate anytime when your not regular. If you don't start soon try another test just to be sure.

If you took a home test I have heard that they can sometimes come back negative. And you should take another one.Do you have any symptoms. Ask your DR.

your period shouldn't be irregular. 3 kids and once mine was back, it came every month normal.
