Pregnancy & Parenting - 5 October 2006

I am 39 weeks sunday. About 35 weeks I found out I had gestational diabetes. Since then I have not been able to keep my sugar levels under control. They started me on insulin last night. Shouldnt they just induce me or schedule a c -section rather than have me do insulin shots this late in pregnancy? I am not overweight I am actually small framed. They want me to get an ultrasound done for the babys weight tomorrow. I just thought they would induce rather than start me on this so late. What does everyone think?

My son has severe concentration problems. I spend almost 30 minutes a day talking to his teacher and trying to firgure out how to deal with this. His schedule is as follows:

7 am gets up and ready for school
He goes to school at 830
I pick him up (He does NOT go to daycare)
He does not watch alot of television and does not play video games.
He does his homework prior to dinner and then will bathe.
We read and he goes to bed at 9.

Any ideas?

my son is 8 months old(yesterday)ha has a bad runny nose and chest congestion.it's baan going on for a few weeks now.dr said to give him pedia care decongestant/cough.so i have been,it helped w the runny nose not the congestion.ive also used his breathing machine on him 2 break it up but its not helping much.any quick,safe solutions???it sometimes keeps him up at night...all the coughing.thanks so much.

Has anyone ever been so scared that something would happen to your baby that you can't sleep at night and you cry all the time? I have anxiety that something will happen to him. I just love him sooo much. I know this is not healthy for him to have a crazy mom. What do I do?

My friend has three boys she wants to have one more baby and really would like to have a lil girl. she had me look up those charts but they were too conflicting ........ heres the info they ask for .. her birth month = oct her year of birth 78 she just turned 28 .... she knows this may be silly and would be happy either way , but she still would love to have a lil girl... is there anyother thing to check besides chinese pregnancy charts ??

My husband and I- had an "accident" about 9 days ago- with no protection..
I have cysts on my ovaries(just found out)
but- tonite i am getting very nausiated..? with cramps and shooting pains in my lower tummy these could be from either? Anyone know what i should do? or think???

Long time ago, there was a girl called Parmalee in my class. The name sounds cute to me, so that's why I still remember it (and her face too). Since, I've not met/heard anyone with this name. Why is this name so unpopular? or is it even a name? (I'm sure it's a name; otherwise, that girl wouldn't have existed in my class) I'm thinking about naming my future daughters or twin girls as Emmalee and Parmalee. What ya think? I've heard that Emmalee should be spelled as Emma Lee, and why is that?

I was wondering if it's true that pacifires cause SIDS? I've heard that they help prevent it and I've heard that they cause it. Whats everyones opinion on that? S.I.D.S terefies me so much I dont know what I'm going to do when my baby is born. I'm going to be a wreck being so paranoid. Not to mention my baby is going to be born in winter, and I read on the SIDS site that most babies die in the winter becuase there parents overdress them.

I used the Ameda Purely Yours pump w/my daughter and the motor did NOT last very long at all and I had to pump exclusively (just pump, not putting the baby to the breast). I will pump exclusively again so I need a pump that will allow me to pump as often as I need. Thanks in advance for your advice and any help you can offer. I am currently considering the Medela Pump in Style Advanced pump bcuz of the reviews. Thanks again.

Have just finished my first five day cycle of clomiphene now on day 15. Just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with it they could share with me. My mother keeps telling me and other people what a horrible person I was and how much stress and strife I caused them as a teenager, but I never skyved off school, never did drugs, never stayed out all night drinking (i was actually tee-total) never slept around with different blokes and always did well at school. Just wondering what makes someone a 'bad teenager' and if teenagers nowadays are worse than when I was one (I'm 30).

I am 36weeks and 4 days. I have been having lots of contractions and they have had to stop labor 3 times already. My cervix is softened and thinning out already and the doc. said the baby and my cervix is already in the position for labor, but no dilation. I was told once I hit 37 weeks I can go ahead and have him because he is so big and healthy and undoubtedly he wants to come out already. Is there any tips on how to get myself to dilate? Also what all should I pack to take to the hospital? Thanks for all your help.

My son is only 6 months old but he seems bored sometimes. He loves to be around other kids, but there's no kids he can play with around here, only at daycare. why some married men know that they have wives at home,and still they dont want to use protection.knowing that if you are not protected it could result into unwanted pregnancies, and std's if the other woman is not taking any birthcontrol.If the other woman becomes pregnant,the married man always wants the other woman to get an abortion, b/c the man do not want the wife too find out what kind of man he really is.If the other woman choose too have the baby , then the married man walks away.Now the baby will grow up without his or her biological father.why not just wear a condom,to avoid the abortion or risk a child growing up not knowing their father. Most of all married men shouldn;t be wanting to get another woman pregnant, knowing it is a possibility that the wife will find out sooner or later. Men risk their marriages by not wearing condoms but,they get mad at the other woman for not killing the baby.

I have three boys 2,4,11. My husband and I have always had family to watch our children when we went out, but recently we moved away from our family. We have never had to pay a babysitter before, and we are not sure what we should pay them.
In the community where we are now living there is a program through the High School. The kids are raising money for a class trip to Washington, so we decided to use them, they babysit in pairs, and they say the rate is up to us, We don't want to be cheap and we don't want to go over board either. We asked them what they other parents usually pay them, but they wouldn't tell us. We have used them once for a couple of hours and they seem to be good with my kids and my kids like them. We paid them five dollors a piece an hour and then my husban gave them each five a piece for their pockets. Does that sound right, my mom says we paid them do much, and I'm worried we didn't pay enough,
