Have asked this question once before but late at night. Thought I might try during the day since more people might be online to answer. Have just finished my first five day cycle of clomiphene now on day 15. Just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with it they could share with me. Have read every available website but was just after some personal stories on success with it and side effects people might have had.

I took it for a number of cycles and i think it pays to do your research and i probably wish i had have known about answers when i did it about 3 years ago to ask the same question.

Let me start by saying that it is administered because it is the easiest fertility treatment to administer. Since having fert probs i have known quite a few women that have used it also without success. I experienced horrible side effects from it namely weight gain (no matter how much i exercised) and mild depression. I have never had such large mood swings as i did on clomid. The hot flashes were nothing ....but i had those too.

I then went on to try ovulation induction which again didnt work and for one cycle my ovaries were overstimulated and i was throwing up all night.

After all that i fell pregnant naturally after about 3 years of trying and am now 19 weeks. What i did find odd was that my obstetrician is also a fert specialist and when i had my first mtg with him he said he was considering not administering this drug anymore.

I would be interested to know the real success rate of this drug as, as i said, the 4 or 5 other friends i have known to have taken it, it didnt work for either. I am sure age and reason for infertility also play a role.

I wish you luck - you will appreciate it all the more when it happens for having to overcome these issues.

I am 31 and tried for 3 years and have really abnormal periods - i was so suprised when it finally happened. I am so happy as i found out last friday that i am having a boy.

Good luck

I was told that u r not suppose to try clomid for more than 6 cycles. If u go with like 150 mg then there is a chance of developing PCO'S . Try for 6 cycles and then leave it. Clomid has a lot of side effects. It can bring more thickness to ur endometrial lining of ur uterus and ur periods can be higher too. Too much of anything is not good. So don't try that for more than 6 cycles. U have to give a time span and then try wish u all the best.

Me and my hubby tried to concieve for two years before i went to the doctor and they confirmed that I have PCOS. They tried Clomid, Femera and shots of HSG. NOTHIN worked. However there is hope, after all that with my regular OBGYN, I went to see a specialist, and after two cycles of Follistem and an IUI I got pregnant with twins. I now have two precious girls that are 3 1/2 months now. It was alot of work but worth every min! I wouldnt have done it any other way, well I guess it wouldnt have worked regardless. Talk to your doctor see what they suggest. Hopefully the clomid, or femera work for you!!! If not there are other options! I wish you the best of luck :-)
