Our pediatrician told us this. He said that since a baby has such a network of vessels and capillaries concentrated on their "T" of their face (forehead and nose causing the slightly blueish look) that if you squeeze a pimple on a baby's face the pus will get into their circulatory system and potentially kill them.

Just sounded kind of far-fetched to me :-) Was wondering if anyone else's pediatrician had ever told them this. Ours has some kind of odd-ball ideas about other things too though, but he is great with kids...

in pregnacies in particular. for example in holland until recently if a baby was born at 24 weeks then they would let them die instead of giving the baby the care it needs. also if the baby is found to be disabled during pregnancy should we allow the state to intervien and make the expectant mother to abort. i think not, what are your views on this subject?

how long should REAL contractions last? I plan to leave for the hospital in about 30 minutes..I wanted to time them for at LEAST an hour before i rushed off to the hosp. to have them tell me its false labor..I need something to do while timing them!!! But they have been coming pretty strong now (i couldnt lay in bed anymore my butt and back and hips hurt so bad!!!) they are coming at 7 mins,then3,4,7,4,7..this pattern..so one after the other will be very close,then about 7 minutes,then close again..I am due the 23rd of september by the way..I do plan to go to the hosp soon I was just curious on how long they should last because they are lasting 3 to 4 minutes except for the real close ones about one minute..is everyone different or should they last the same for everyone? it seems too long-but of course i am new to this! Thanks-I would really appreciate the advice!!

Alright why my other question was deleted I dont know ... BUT I wanted to let everyone know Im finally preggo!!! And also I wanted to know how far along everyone thought I would be??? Since I had my last period on july 30th and I just now found out. Also I have had cramping that doesnt seem like its harmful BUT its the fact that I dont remember having cramping this bad before!! So I wanted to know if that was normal?!?! Also what kinds of meds can I take? And What kinds of foods should I stay away from? Its been 4 years since I was pregnant!!! So please help me out on this one!!! Thanks!!

I've been having some sharp pains on my side to lower end of my stomach like say if you were running and you got a cramp from jogging. I'm not sure if it's worth worrying about or not. Plus last night I had discharge that looked yellowish and like a big clump of jelly I know it wasn't my mucus plug but I can't remember when I was pregnant with my son during my last pregnancy if they said it was part of the cervix.

And the reason I haven't called my doctor yet is b/c I have to go see him tomorrow in the morning and I'm not feeling like waiting for a phone call back for hours if I'm just over worrying.

I am in a bit of trouble. I switched partners between July and August and just found out September 12th that I am pregnant. I had sex with one partner July 11th and the second on August 15th. I was supicious I was pregnant at the beginning of August and took a pregnancy test on August 1st but it came back negative. I took another August 21st and it also came back negative. I took a third on September 12th and it came back positive. My HCG level was at 24,700. My doctors office said I could be anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks but they could not be certain. I had a period on July 4th and I was spotting for two days during the last week of July. Who would I be pregnant by? Mr July or Mr August?

I'm 13 1/2 weeks pregnant. The nausea is mostly gone and I'm starting to feel a bit better, but I'm still very tired. It's a horrible feeling...I know everyone is different, but any ideas on when I'll lost the fatigue? Thanks.

My son is nearly 4mths old but very big and well developed for his age. The health visitor has advised me to start weaning him early. I have started giving him a selection of baby rice/ creamed porrige etc once a day at lunchtime but do any other mums or dads have any recipes for pureed fruits, recipes etc that are pureeable suitable from first weaning or within the first few months??

Also, is there anything in particular that they are not supposed to have until a certain age. I know of some things but like fromage frais, can he have this straight away or do i need to wait a while??

last month my period ended 4 days early. that's very unusual because no matter what i always get it for a whole 7 days and this month today, i'm going on 6 days late. i keep telling myself it's because of stress but i do have some symptoms like sleepiness, my stomach feels a little hard at the bottom and my boobs are tender. but it could all be from stress.

I am 28w1d and I have been losing (what I think is) my mucous plug. It's like clumps of white/clear discharge. It is extremely thick (sometimes stringy) and I have had this 4 times and the size of it is pretty big (bigger than a quarter). I have also been having these pintching cramps in my vagina. It feels like someone is sticking their hand up there and pintching something. My back aches (like to the point of tears). and the last thing is, It feels like she keeps kicking me in my cervix...but I feel her feet up by my ribs... What's going on??

My son absolutely loves to play with toy guns, he's usually good about pointing them at the wall or couch (anything but people)....but he enjoys them soooo much, it worries me. If we go toy shopping, a gun is all he wants (he will choose it over anything). Would like some opinions about this or personal experiences.

Wife’s only one in house who's not illiterate/has several years of college asks 20+ step son about his financial aid. He says the school's FA is "free". She reviews paperwork & sees that this small non-state “Institute” school is chging GED students 7 grand yrly just 4 GED classes! Advises step son to take SAR to school & ask exactly what package he got. He tells her he "don’t think they will need 2 see the SAR"/questions the validity of what she says. He thinks that the school is free because USA doesn't want to have illiterate people so gov't is willing to pay for people to get an education free (sad). Either way wouldn't U want your financial aid package info?! To know if you got grants or loans instead or taking the school's word 4 it that everything is “free”. Wife asks step what his FA’s name is. Stepson: "I didn't ask". At this point shd she say, “4get it! Let these fools get stuck with a 7G loan to pay for GED" or would you keep trying to offer help, advocacy, info?

I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago (so I guess I'm about 3 - 4 weeks pregnant by my own estimation). I have naseau, breasts are tender on and off and I get stomach cramps off and on that feel somewhat like menstrual cramps as well. I am feeling more tired and do crave foods it seems more than before.

Being that this is my first pregnancy, I'm curious about what other women have felt or are feeling at this stage. Thanks

I found out i was pregnant 2 weeks ago. Before getting a + preg test, I had fever and my genital lymph nodes got swollen as well (was told this was body reacting to pregnancy). Question now is fever is long gone but my right lymph node still is swollen - doesnt hurt anymore, only when pressed, so now I am wondering if this could be a cyst or tumor even - the fact that I can feel it (about 1inch - little less) i dont think its on an ovary, etc...but just curious if anyone could relate to this. It just developed when I had high basal temperatures and never went away. Like I said it doesnt bother me, but this is my first pregnancy so I'm nervous about EVERYTHING that could be negatively affecting this pregnancy. Thanks

I feel as though I am doing all of the right things suggested by my doctor and other pregnant woman to keep my feet from swelling up like water balloons... but alas.. it still happens... Lately my feet and calves are swelling up to the point that it is extremely painful to walk..
And suggestions or quick fixes to reduce the swelling and discomfort?

i am married for 11 years and we still dont have a baby, i got pregnant last 2003 but i had a premature delivery (twins) and they didnt survive. then i got pregnant again by 2004 but i had a miscarriage. and now me and my husband is trying to get prgnant again.
