It helps keep your baby from getting sick and they are supposedly suppose to develop faster then babies who weren't breastfeed but this is a rumour. Anti-bodies are important for your baby. Less chances of getting sick, especially if she goes to school!

I fully pumped for my eldest child (no formula) and he is my sickliest child. That's why I don't fall for all that breast hype. Genetics play such a large role in immunity for all of us, plus most of the powerful antibodies to common germs we all possess were given while in the womb from mom's placenta. La Leche leage will have you beleive breastmilk can heal the sick and raise the dead but it's just not true. My baby that only got breastmilk for 5 months is developing faster than my baby that got all breastmilk, and you can put her in a room with 3 flu victims and 2 weeks later, she's still healthy as a horse, not even a sniffle. I don't think it makes much difference. Only to people who want to exalt themselves and their parenting efforts into the stratosphere just because they gave breastmilk. These people just are lacking in some other realm of parenting.

Pretty powerful- and it made an enormous difference for my child last winter. She was about 4 months old around Christmas time, and my husband and I spent the months from Christmas to March (or April) sick *constantly*. We'd pass colds back and forth to each other, and we seemed to catch every little thing that was going around.

My daughter? She got sick three times in those months, each for less than a day, each with very mild symptoms. It was crystal clear that her immune system was doing a better job than our adult-sized immune systems, given that I was much sicker each of those times.

One of the cool things about breastmilk, is that your body actually manufactures antibodies specially to anything your baby has been exposed to (and anything you've been exposed to of course), so if you have a cold, your baby is more protected against it. It's awesome!

I am a teacher and I bring home all sorts of nasty germs, and my baby never gets sick - I think it is the breastmilk. I think because I get sick first, I have the antibodies being made before he gets sick, so he gets a jumpstart on immunity in the breastmilk. Also - never had an ear infection. So my answer - the antibodies are very powerful!!

Well the doctor told me that breastmilk is the best thing to give a baby.Breastmilk is supposed to have antibodies in it and this is what is supposed to keep the baby from getting sick as much.

I observed that comparable prepare, and grew to become into actually screaming and cursing on the television. No, no, no. this is a hundred% fake. regrettably, as you suggested, some human beings in our sofa potato united states watch domicile religiously and picture it qualifies them for an M.D. There are even authentic docs available who have faith that rubbish. If it have been authentic, why could the yank Academy of Pediatrics propose breastfeeding for a minimum of a year and then as long as is wished via mom and toddler? Why could the worldwide well-being corporation propose 2 years? My daughter grew to become into breastfed for 21 months. I merely stopped (simply by fact i'm pregnant, quite often, and it grew to alter into puzzling in diverse processes) and he or she have been given the worst chilly/allergic reactions she's ever had. different than that, she hasn't had something greater suitable than the sniffles in almost 2 years. I artwork in a clinical institution so it fairly is been powerful for me to bypass antibodies of what i would be choosing as much as my daughter. One time I even have been given a 24-hour abdomen virus, breastfed my daughter by it, and he or she stayed wholesome! And those morons attempt to declare it has no fee after six months... thank you for bringing this up, i think of it will instruct quite some human beings at here.

Babies are born with low immune systems. The anitbodies in breastmilk keep them from getting sick and just make them healthier in general. I don't understand what you mean with "the winter months" comment. ?? Breastmilk has over 300 natural ingredience in it that CAN NOT be reproduced in formula.

Breast fed babies do tend to get less ear infections and other small ailments like that.

infants dont have a fully functional immune system at the time of birth, it takes a couple months for it to get up and rolling, and even then its much weaker than ours.

Breast milk offers them a booster during the time it takes them to build a better defense.

But babies who are not breast fed also survive, and are not generally sickly because of it. Breast feeding doesnt guarentee that your baby wont become sick, its just added protection, since thats what breast milk is designed to provide.

Not everyone can or does breast feed, and its a totally personal choice.

My nephew (4 weeks younger than my 9-month old daughter) stopped breastfeeding in July in preparation for my sister-in-law returning to work September 6th.

A month later (last week in August) he had his first cold. He caught it from my sister-in-law and then passed it on to both of my parents inside of 2 days while they were all at the lake together.

My brother, SIL and nephew went home and my husband, baby and I went to the lake and stayed with my hacking miserable parents for 4 days, but no cold for my breastfed baby!!

Same thing last Christmas when everyone was being careful passing around my baby (at that time 1-month old) and wasn't handling her if they were sick. Everyone except my Mother-in-law that is!! MIL had a terrible cold but couldn't STOP touching and holding the baby. (I wanted to string her up!!) But no cold then either.

I'm surprised science hasn't found a way to put breastmilk on the shelves with cold remedies in the pharmacy!!

What are you - kidding?

There is nothing better for a new born baby than breastmilk. They have not produced anti-bodies yet - and need the mothers.
