I'm 13 1/2 weeks pregnant. The nausea is mostly gone and I'm starting to feel a bit better, but I'm still very tired. It's a horrible feeling...I know everyone is different, but any ideas on when I'll lost the fatigue? Thanks.

I think it is different for every woman, but generally during the second trimester (which you are just starting) pregnant women start to feel much better. I think it took me until 15 weeks before the nausea and tiredness went away.

Once it does go away, enjoy it while you can, the tiredness comes back in the third trimester, as you are carrying more weight and working harder. Not to mention the tiredness after the baby is born.

With my two pregnancies, the fatigue (and you're right...it is horrible, and impossible to explain to anyone who's never been pregnant!) started to go away around the beginning of my second trimester. Don't worry--I know you'll miss it while it's gone (hah hah!) but it'll be back toward the end of your third trimester.

I think once you get pregnant, you just get used to being tired constantly. (Seriously) You get very little sleep with a newborn (middle of the night feedings), then when they FINALLY start sleeping through the night, you've become so accustomed to getting up several times, your body doesn't know that it CAN sleep all night, so it keeps waking up. I usually get up twice a night. Not sure why--something to drink, use the toilet, etc. Thankfully I go right back to sleep without trouble, but still--it's a pain!

I'm just waiting until my boys (they're 2 1/2 years and 14 months old) go off to college. Knowing my luck, they'll go to a school across country and I'll never sleep again. I'll have to do like Tom did in that old Tom and Jerry episode where he propped his eyes open with toothpicks. hah!

It is normal to feel fatigue because your body is working overtime to prepare for the new life you will bring. The fatigue usually fades around the end of the 2/beginning of of your 3rd trimester. In the mean time, get all the rest you can possibly get and keep your feet elevated

The bone-tired, can't move, dead-tired tiredness went away about that time, but I was still very tired my whole preganacy. Good news - my baby is 5 months, and the normal energy level is toally back, and has been for a while. I thought I would never feel the same again!

It WILL get better for you. There's just no way of knowing when as your system is different from others. Just give it time. YOu know it's worth going through for that beautiful little baby you will give birth to. Good luck.
