A Q-tip will work if you can get them to hold still long enough and keep it out of the ear canal! BUT I have a 7 month old and this never seems to work for me because she's just all over the place. Towards the end of her bath I take a barely damp washcloth to clean her ears and I found this works pretty well and there's no risk of poking her with a Q-tip!! Much safer for squirmy babies lol!

It's okay to use a q-tip as long as you don't go into the ear canal. Doing it after bath time when the ear is wet helps. The wax comes out easier. If there is wax in the canal, rotate a cotton ball in the ear. That will gently get the wax out.

Just wipe the outside as much as you can with a wash cloth. An old Pediatrician once told me when I asked him the same question many years ago, "never put anything in your baby's ear canal, smaller than your elbow."

The ears are self-cleaning, meaning you shouldn't need to do anything. If you use q-tips, etc, you may be pushing the wax even further down the ear canel and get them stuck there.

you are not supposed to clean a babies ear unless the wax is on the outside of the ear canal.......if you clean it any deeper you push the wax down into the canal and it builds up and causes infections..good luck

I've waited until the baby is sleeping and then used either a wash cloth or a Q-tip, very gently of course.

they make q-tips from johnson and johnson for babies don't use the ones made for adults b/c the baby could jerk and you might accidently stick it in they're ear drum. You can find the baby q-tips in the baby isle I know for a fact at wal-mart,target,or babies r us.
