I had some blood taken when I found out I was pregnant. I had a miscarriage though and my doc didn't say anything about the blood tests when I was there twice last week so she must have just gotten it back. She called me Friday and left a message to call her about my test results. I keep stressting that it's the worst like HIV or something even though she said it wasn't urgent that I call her back. I had a HIV test about a year ago but I keep thinking maybe I didn't wait long enough. It was about 2 months after I broke up with an ex who was an IV drug user and about month after I started having sex with my current boyfriend.

Anyway, what could she possibly have to tell me now that isn't bad news?

My husband and I are hoping to have a baby in the near future, and we are discussing whether or not to have the baby cirmcumcised if it's a boy. I've researched it on WebMD, and most experts seem to agree the slight medical benefits are not worth the pain and possible complications of circumcision.

My husband's argument is that he'll be teased when other boys see him in the locker room or bathroom. He doesn't want to subject our son to that kind of embarrassment. I disagree, because almost all children are teased at some point and kids will tease about anything and everything--hair, clothes, height, weight, etc--just to make themselves seem powerful.

If you have not been circumcised or have not had your son circumcised, please tell me if my husband is right or if I am. Will everyone notice the difference and tease him? Do you regret your (or your parents') decision?

I've had steady Braxton Hicks for the last two days (nothing new for me except that they've continued for two days), I'm 36w1d (docs are considering me full term since I had all these pre-term contractions) and I have the runs like I have never had before...

For those of you that have been in labor... how many had your labor preceeded by diarrhea and if so, now long did it last, and how long til you were in active or noticeable labor after the diarrhea kicked in?

Thanks in advance!

I just recently had a baby, and my 13 month old (who before her sister came along, always went to bed at 8:00 without fuss). Now every time I put her to bed, she cries and cries untill I take her out of her crib. Sometimes she doesnt' even go to bed till 9:30 - 10:00. This has gone on for at least a week now.

I think it's because she sees her little sister go into my room at night, and she wants to be with us.

She is crying right now.....should I let her cry it out, or give in and let her play?

We started potty training our daughter again today we have before with a little success, she would go at least once but today nothing. We set a timer so that we knew to take her every 20 minutes and she didn't go in the toilet once, I'm hoping this is normal.

I have a problem and need help. I have two children of my own and I have 3 step children, they are all boys. I've always been a strick parent with my two boys, I had to because their father left when they were young. They are now 17 and 15 and they never get in any trouble. My three stepsons are always getting in trouble at home and school. My husband thinks that I'm picking on them all the time because I seem to be on them all the time. But I don't do to them anything that I wouldn't do to me own sons. I know it's not the boys fault. their mother never pays attention to them. I've tried to keep my mouth shut and let my husband only punish them but he don't do anything to them, and once they were playing around in the house and broke our big picture window. My husband was going to just ignore what happened, I couldn't shut up any more and grounded them, since then my husband and I have been fighting, am I too much of a hard as3 ?

What is it like for a child to grow up in a violent home?

Chaos: The children may never know what to expect at home. Their
parents' mood can change instantly from loving to enraged.

Fear and tension: The daily anger and violence create a living
nightmare for the children. They may grow up being afraid of
everything and trusting no one.

Danger: Often, the children are the intended victim of one or both
parents. Other times, they get caught in the middle and are hurt or
killed by accident.

Confusion: The children often receive mixed messages. For example:
at school they learn hitting is wrong, at home they learn that
hitting is used to "solve" problems.

Isolation: Often, an abusive parent shuts off the family from the
outside world. And the children may withdraw from their peers and
other adults too.

Hopelessness: The children often blame themselves for the violence
but they feel powerless to prevent, stop or escape from it.

Love/Hate Relationship: They may feel protective of an abused
parent. But they may also resent him or her for not stopping the
abuse. Sometimes the children may feel close to the abuser.
Other times, they may hope he or she goes away or dies. They may
feel guilty for not being able to rescue the family or for loving
someone who is abusive.
