We started potty training our daughter again today we have before with a little success, she would go at least once but today nothing. We set a timer so that we knew to take her every 20 minutes and she didn't go in the toilet once, I'm hoping this is normal.

Potty training can be difficult for both parent and child. Like one of the other posters pointed out, she had to have gone at some point during the day. Which indicates to me that you still have her in diapers. That can be a bit of a confusing 'message' to a toddler. There are 'Pull-up's' available as the first 'real underwear' a toddler has. These will allow your child to 'feel' if she has had an 'accident'. Make it a 'special treat' to pick out a package of Pull ups (if you don't already have them) A 'special trip' to the library to find books age specific on the subject, which will help you to communicate to your toddler what you expect of her would be beneficial as well.

And don't worry...don't stress yourself...or your toddler...over potty training. When she's ready, it won't take long at all for her to figure out what she should do.

Hope this helps!

I hope that you mean she didn't "pee" in the toilet, and not that she didn't "pee" at all for the entire day! I've got 4 children so don't get discouraged yet. It'll start happenting soon, don't give up hope. She will get the hang of it in no time. My oldest daughter was potty trained at the age of 2&1/2 and she got the hang of it in about three weeks, and only wet her bed (at night) about 4 times over the next year. My boys have been the hardest. My oldest son was well over 3!!!, and my second son was also 3 before he got the hang of it. My 2yr. old daughter is starting too ask to go now, she turned 2 in June. I'm not pushing her at all, I guess because she's the "baby", and I'm just getting lazy about it. Just keep her going and you will have some better days, I promise. Keep rewarding her for her efforts, and don't fuss at her about not "producing", just the fact that she sits there is enough. Once she starts doing it she'll get excited and want to continue. I used to get "real excited" and make such a big deal out of it, ( mainly because I didn't want to change anymore diapers) but they got a kick out of me carring on so much that they wanted to make me happy and that's what got them to try harder. They just wanted to see mom act silly and make them laugh!!!

give her lots of water and pretzels, this'll make her have to pee. Does she wear a diaper? Or underwear? She had to have pee'd at some point, just not in the toilet. If she's peeing before the 20 min. take her to the toilet as soon as she had the accident. Then reset the timer for 20 min.

Did you give her a lot of juice and water to drink during the day?

I recommend that you read the book Toilet Training in Less than a Day. Not that she will be trained the next day, but because they explain all the skills she needs before you can begin to train her. They recommend giving lots of fluids on training day so that there are lots of opportunities to learn.

Give lots of water and read lots of books to her while she is on the potty.
Do you have the bear in the big blue house Potty DVD? My daughter would watch it while sitting on her potty.

How old is she? All i can say is stick with it. She might not be ready if she won't go. Depending on age.. maybe she is just stubborn. :)
