yes 10% of women do become pregnant when on birth control

While the only 100% guaranteed birth control is abstinence, let's face it, not many of us are going to chose that particular method.

If the injection was your first, and has been within the last six weeks, then yes, there is probably a 50-50 chance that you are pregnant. However, like the pill (only much more convenient!) the 'shot' is very effective. If you've had more than one injection, I would say that the chances of being pregnant are relatively low to nil.

If your risk of being pregnant is high (first shot, quite recently), may I suggest a trip to Planned Parenthood? They can offer pregnancy tests and counselling. If you are pregnant, they can help you decide which of the alternatives available (abortion, adoption, keeping the baby) will be right for you.

Hope this helps!

The shot is to prevent that pregnancy. While its very effective it is not 100%. It would be incredibly unlikely however that you could be pregnant. Even if there was a short lapse between your injections, the residual hormone would probably be enough to avoid pregnancy.

Although women do get pregnant while on all forms of birth control.

The most effective meathod is not having sex. Sex is, after all, for making babies. If you cant accept that risk as a possible consequence of your actions then you shouldnt be having sex.

Probably not.. Unless you got the shot like one day ago. I was on it for 5 years while married and never got pregnant... Everyone is different though. If you expereince symptoms of pregnancy then go see the doctor or buy a home pregnancy test.

The contraceptive "shot" that is comprised of synthetic hormones mimic pregnancy in the human body which prevents ovulation from occurring. Therefore you cannot be pregnant unless you have had unprotected sex before you were given your first injection. This is what the "shot" is for --- to prevent pregnancy.
The answer: doubtful.

What are your symptoms? Have you missed your monthly?

Why wouldn't you use other protection......Aids is not protected by a shot,or a birth contro pill.............
Quickly, I knew a woman who got pregnant from her husband(who had an affair) and he had gotten aids.....He did die.........
His wife naturally got aids also.,,,,,,She had a baby who is carriying the aids gene or what ever they call it(I forgot), anyway the woman in question suffered for years...She died a terrible painful death.......The daughter is doing fine, but sees the doctor every 6 months...............Please protect yourself, no matter what Good luck.

"on the shot"? Are there injections for birth control? Are they self administered? That can be tricky! maybe you missed the vein and it wasn't effective! Wouldn't "the pill" be a better solution? Still, its not guaranteed.
