I've had steady Braxton Hicks for the last two days (nothing new for me except that they've continued for two days), I'm 36w1d (docs are considering me full term since I had all these pre-term contractions) and I have the runs like I have never had before...

For those of you that have been in labor... how many had your labor preceeded by diarrhea and if so, now long did it last, and how long til you were in active or noticeable labor after the diarrhea kicked in?

Thanks in advance!

No plans on going to the hospital until I'm sure :) Not a big fan of L&D at the moment b/c of how many times I ended up there... Unfortunately, I've already had painful contractions closer than 5 times an hour that I couldn't walk or talk through b/c of my pre-term issues... just curious if anyone else had the runs before the "big day". I was told its a possible sign of labor.

Hi, yeh u sometimes get a bit of diarrhea when labour is about to start. It sounds like you are about to start contractions. and maybe even the ones you are thinking are braxton hicks are probably very mild contractions.?? are they more of a period pain feeling at all? ?? thats what i felt for weeks up until i had my baby boy. You are probably dilating aswell by the sounds of it so what for the mucus plug it could come out any time now. If you can handle going for a walk if your diarrhea isnt too bad or if it settles down then that is the best thing to do. It will bring on labour which is what you will want if you are actually full term and they have dates wrong or something. Good luck and i hope it all goes smoothly for you and your baby!

When I went into labor I threw up and had diarrhea at the beginning. But, it only lasted about the first 45 mins. My labor time was very short and when my contractions began they were only 3 mins apart, so I'm not sure that would apply to most people. When you are really in labor you'll know it. You've never felt pain like it before and trust me, you'll notice. Stay home for as long as you can because it is a much more relaxing environment than the hospital. Plus, why hurry to the hospital to spend 12 hours in labor there when you could be at home?

I started with contractions at 36 weeks. Had two bouts of the runs, but my water did not break until 41 weeks last time. Then thirty hours of labor and an emergency csection. Sorry, I know that's prob. not what you want to hear. First babies are usually later. Wait til you have contractions every five minutes or about 3 hours after your water breaks to call your midwife or OB. I am at 37 weeks today....waiting once again.
