General Petraeus says he does not know, so if he doesn't know, how can anyone else know? How can America be expected to support the mission if the guy in charge of carrying it out does not if it will work?

From Reuters:

Warner asked if the general's recommendations would make the United States safer -- a reference to Bush's argument that Iraq is a central front in the war on terrorism.

"Sir, I don't know, actually," Petraeus replied, saying he was concentrating on his military mission in Iraq.

These are the people that bombed our country 6 years ago! Don't you get angry when they send their videos to us to make us look foolish? The Presidents of yore would not have taken that, much less for 6 years. Why doesn't Bush get angry at least? Do you know?

With all the child-like venom being thrown around on this site, there must be A LOT of military age posters. (OR POSERS!) SO WHY AREN'T YOU ENLISTING???

You seem to be VERY capable of hating "the other team" that you call "Dims" and parroting crap you hear on the news. Why don't you put your hate and anger on the desert floor and learn what it's like?

Of course you are probably like your Uncle George W--A YELLOW COWARD when it comes to backing uo the hate and garbage you crank out. Nah! You'd rather blab about things you have NO CLUE ABOUT and let "the other guy" walk your talk!

SO...WHY AREN'T YOU ENLISTING??!!

Swear Him In!

That’s all I said in the unusual silence on Monday afternoon as first aid was being administered to Gen. David Petraeus’ microphone before he spoke before the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees.

It had dawned on me that when House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton (D-Missouri) invited Gen. Petraeus to make his presentation, Skelton forgot to ask him to take the customary oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I had no idea that my suggestion would be enough to get me thrown out of the hearing.

I had experienced a flashback to a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in early 2006, when Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) reminded chairman Arlen Specter (R-PA) that Specter had forgotten to swear in the witness, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales; and how Specter insisted that that would not be necessary.

who believe Bill and Hillary Clinton operated death squads to take out dissenters?

On a related note, why do cons worry about the handful of 911 conspiracy theorists when the right-wing kind are obviously more dangerous?

Timothy McVeigh, the anti-government militia right-wing terrorists, was a registered Republican who took Reagan's "Government is not the solution. It is the problem" slogan a little bit too far.

Well I'm a conservative, to begin with. Ever since I read Thomas Moore's Utopia idea I thought about the similarities it had with libralism, after reading Animal Farm and 1984 I saw even more similarities with the flawed Utopian idea.

So I just started public school again this year, and I noticed all the "libralism" in it. Teachers were telling me how to live, instead of teaching making us students getting in touch with our personal feelings, (Which was severly pointless, by the way) telling us what is right and what is wrong. (they told me the only good emotions were happiness and love, seriously)

Overall, it seems they are trying to seize control of my life and trying to run it like socialistic SOBs.

Is it just me? Any other conservatives noticing what I am?

It is absolutely unAmerican for everybody, rich and poor alike, to have access to clean, safe water at a reasonable cost.
Socialized water in America? No way, I say.

Folks, universal health care coverage is not socailized medicine. It is a pipeline to deliver the best health care in the world to every American at an affordable price.

Is it unAmerican, or just economically practical?

No matter your party affliation, no matter how you feel about this war, did part of your day go to remembrance and sorrow?

P.S. Even you conspiracy theorists who think Bush and Cheney engineered it. People still died, lots of them. Did you think about them?

Every 9/11 I wake up angry. I think about that day and am filled with impotent rage. But today, I tried to subdue that and thought about what those people went through, the first responders, and what their families must feel on this day. I'm sure all of you have too. This question is really just has that "misery loves company" feeling behind it. Thanks.

Do these people think Bush set up a deal with Bin Laden to have him put out videos commemorating the terrorists who died on 9/11? I don't understand that. You really think Bin Laden who was well known to be a terrorist before 9/11 would agree to do something like that with Bush? Yeah like someone who hates the west and America would help out the president with his plan, give me a break. Why would he put out these videos if it wasn't a planned terrorist event?

I was looking at some numbers and it is sad, when a funding bill for an intelligence agency has come up in Congress over the last 20 years, it only gets on average 58% support from Democrats and surprising only 52% of Republicans ( who you would think would be higher given how they like to claim they are strong on security). Then you always hear them say we support the troops (Debatable if ANY of them mean it or just say it to look good), and talk show hosts calling the troops Brave Americans (or as I heard today, "The only people left in America who you can truly respect"). I don't mean to demean the troops or the personal at the Pentagon, but as a little brother oftens says, what about me?
