I have hyperthyroidism. My thyroid distributes too much hormones. Its nothing life threatening and it really isnt serious. I have to take this pill for life. I was wondering if i could still join the Navy with this.

I am a single mother of a 13 month old baby girl. I am having a hard time taking care of her and decided it would be best to join the Air Force(or maybe the Navy) so I could have some security and be able to take care of both of us...BUT I talked to a recruiter and he told me that I cannot join any branch of the military while being a single parent. I either have to get married or sign over my parental rights. Now I COULD marry my best friend, who is in his junior year of college in the engineering program and has a lot going for himself(so he wouldn't try to blackmail me) OR I could sign over my parental rights to my mother. The only thing about that is once I sign over my rights I have to sign a paper stating that I will not take her back until I do a 4yr term, get married, or under circumstances that I can't prevent(like my mother dying or becoming disabled).I know I'll want my daughter with me as soon as I get out of basic training...What should I do???

We requested San Diego and were given Virginia today.. I am devastated because my mother is in kidney rejection and throughout the next year I will be flying home often to get tested and eventually give her one of my kidneys.. Plane tickets are HALF the price when from San Diego so we have a valid reason to get it.

Who do I need to talk to to get our orders changed? I will do anything possible, please please help!

I don't understand. In this particular place like Iraq, the outdoor environment is desert, so the soldiers need to wear the camo uniform that has tan color.

But clearly, this uniform is a lot more bright and even has an ability to gain the attention.

This is not a camouflage. Why does the army make their soliders to wear this camo uniform?

Is this the time to worry about genocide 100 years ago in Armenia? Is this the time to be making China and Russia angry? We need a president that is willing to be diplomatic, but the one we have just seems to have more war on his mind. What do you think the agenda really is, no doubt they have been working on one for a while now?

I have an old typesetting block, from the days before computers did most of the printing.

I'm curious as to whether it is some official symbol of some branch of service.

It's shows a spread-wing eagle on top a globe, with North and South Amerca showing. In the back of globe is an anchor, with top and bottom peeking out from the globe.

Anyone know what this symbol is for?

Putin is sure working hard to become the savior to the Iraqi and Iranians, and to make sure he identifies Russia as anti-US. He is increasing his stance by posturing himself and Russia as in direct alliance with all that is defiant towards anything the Americans are doing. I often suspect he has a 666 on the back of his head.

Quoted from Yahoos front page: "President Vladimir Putin, in his latest jab at Washington, suggested Thursday that the U.S. military campaign in Iraq was a "pointless" battle against the Iraqi people, aimed in part at seizing the country's oil reserves."

This is the first time for me. I've always worn dresses and skirts, but have never real been the "girly-girl" type - so I don't really have a clue.
I got this dress for the Marine Ball I am attending with my Marine, but I don't know if it suits the 'code.' He mentioned something about it being long gowns (which don't really compliment my figure). I looked it up and saw conflicting responses...
This is the dress I already got, it is knee-length...any thoughts/opinions on it? I can always return it...

Is this the reason?.....Between 1969 and 1971, the Army reported 600 fragging incidents that killed 82 Americans and injured 651. In 1971 alone, there were 1.8 fraggings for every 1,000 American soldiers serving in Vietnam, not including gun and knife assaults.

"These people knew the war was pretty much lost, that they were going to be sacrificed," said Texas A&M University history professor and Vietnam veteran Terry Anderson. "They just wanted to get out of Vietnam."

After the 1968 Tet offensive, enlisted troops in Vietnam increasingly felt their lives were being placed at risk for a losing cause...

hes set to return from deployment in February 10th.
they extended him 3 months.

My question is will he have to stay longer in the army?
Or will they begin to discharge him when he comes.

Its like 3 weeks from time he shouldarrive to time he should get out.
My other brother had to "clear" I think he said, clear his post for like a month.

Does this mean my brother WONT be coming home on the date he was suppose to?
Trying to make plans for him, can someone help?

During WW2, many different styles of rifles were designed, tried and used by a variety of countries. Most were bolt action high powered rifles, with the exception of a few semi-auto rifles that came into being during the war.

Heres the scenario.

3 infantry soldiers, from America, Britian and Germany. Each has normal gear from their country and are carrying an average infantry soldier load (around 40 lbs).

None of them have scopes, are carrying heavy equipment (like bipods, machine gun ammo etc) and are equal in the regards to training, physcial abilities and marksmanship skills with their rifles.

Keep in mind that though the M1 is a semi-auto rifle, that does not ness. make it a shoe in. It has been shown that both the M98 and the Lee Enfield could be fired with extreme accuracy rapidly, with both could average roughly 35 + rounds fired and hit a one foot by one foot target from 250 yards away.

Who do you feel would win and why?
