I have been fascinated by military hardware everysince I was a Kid, in particular anything Bazooka like.

I remember Rambo's RPG and the Soviets in Afghanistan getting destroyed by their own RPG systems (by Mujahideen).

Sadly, in today's world, it is the US soldiers + Marines that suffer at the virtues of this classic weapon.

And with our high-tech inclination to war fighting it is especially frustrating to see looses happen where they need not occur.

I understand that their is an Anti-RPG system (Trophy) deployed by Israel (Rafael corp), so why don't we use it too?

I understand military has protocol for adopting systems, but in this You tube clip all of their excuses seem to be answered so what gives?

I just don't understand why we haven't addopted trophy already (IF EVEN ON A TEMPORARY BASIS)?

Thank you for sharing your pont of view

I recently finished processing at the MEPs in Cleveland, Ohio. I am not from any part of Ohio but I reside in Michigan (Go Blue!!!). I was in Sandusky, Oh working for the summer when I decided to join the Navy. Now the summer's gone and I am back in Michigan. I still haven't finished my PQS with my recruiter. He says that I have to finish this in order to ship out, which is on 2008FEB02. I already signed my life away and sworn in. There is no way I can travel back and forth to Sandusky and Michigan everyday to finish my PQS. Am I still a valid applicant for the US Navy!!!!???? I am really looking forward for this opportunity and I would be greatly disappointed to see it go by. What do I do? Do I have to talk to a recruiter in Michigan and go through MEPs all over again and sign up again? My MA1 talked about doing a courtesy transfer with a recruiting station near my location to finish up on my PQS! I am just doubtful. Thank you for your time....

I saw the images of the 2 building adjacent to the Navy building that looks like a Swastika from the air in my local news. The 2 building adjacent to it look like 2 fighter jets from above pointing towards the Swastika building.
Am I seeing things? You can see the image using Google.
It looks cool.

I just recently move out to Litchfield Park, Arizona, a few blocks away from the Air Force Base.

Recently I started noticing at various times through out the day and also at night time, they play a bugle on the loud speaker.

I was just wondering when and why they do this?

Just curious.

Well he's simplified things a bit at the least.

While there are a couple of SF enlistment oppurtunities... that doesn't mean you are going to be a member of any of the special forces UNTIL you complete primary training in a 'regular' MOS or job. THEN you get the CHANCE to try out for special forces training. The cut out rate is very high.

The only exception to this I believe is enlisting as a PJ or Parajumper in the Air Force. That MOS is considered special forces and you can enlist directly into it.

Otherwise, for the Army, Marines, or Navy - good luck. A LOT of people apply for SF training. Most don't make it.

However, he probably is still technically young enough. The age cut-off for most of the special forces is in the mid-thirties. But most of those people have been serving on active duty for a number of years before they apply and get accepted to try out.

*To be an Army Ranger - you CAN get the chance to apply for Ranger school written into your enlistment contract now. But again, you have to join the Army first, complete Basic Combat Training, your training in a regular MOS (job), pass an assessment course (very tough) and then make it through a very tough school. The cut-out rate again is still very high.

Can read about what the school is like here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ranger_scho...

The 110 score he was talking about was probably his composite GT score. A subset score of parts of the ASVAB. A score of 110 in that area is the minimum cut-off score for a lot of oppurtunities in the Army. For example to be considered for any officer commission or special forces in the Army - you have to score a 110 or higher in the General/Technical categories on the ASVAB.

Sorry to use so many acronyms.

By the way - since some Marine will eventually get on here and start bragging: The Marines don't even have anything all that special when it comes to special forces. Recon is about it and it is equivelant to an Army sniper. They are scouts. But they aren't even Airborne qualified. Not knocking what they do - just get tired of hearing MC people that have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to being in the SFs. Army (Rangers) and Navy (SEALs) are where it's at when it comes to traditional special forces. And Army is it when it comes to non-traditional commando style special forces (i.e. "Green Berets" and "Delta" forces).

Don't tell me "it wasnt caught on camera", otherwise your saying the Marriot Hotel has better suvelliance than the Pentagon...

Why won't they release the footage? It was stop me from asking so many questions, it would prove all the skeptics wrong but probably create more skeptics..

Why?

Show us the footage?

Whats the big deal?

Is it because a missile really hit the pentagon?

I don't see how the damage is proportional to WTC's damaga...

Look, don't get me wrong, I'm still in high school, I don't have any degrees, but I know enough to not take what they're giving us with a smile or a shrug... I want to know what happened...

We can hire and train foreign mercenaries to do what we're doing. We only have military leaders in Iraq, the mercenaries are led by American military people. The mercenaries are not in the American armed forces, so they don't get to be citizens later, all they get is paid.

Why won't this work?

Nothing about him being close to imminent dange in the original report of the battle from which he was awarded a Bronze Star.

Perhaps he deserves that medal as much as Jessica Lynch deserved to her Bronze Star. I mention Jessica Lynch to illustrate the military will lie to promote service members, just as Jessica Lynch was nice looking and endearing, Petraeus is the anointed golden boy.

Yet I have been told that a fake report was made up to make it appear Petraeus was worthy of a Bronze Star. I have been told that based on what is in the USA Today, Petraeus didn't deserve his Bronze Star.

I want to know if anyone knows what the chances are that my boyfriend will deploy or not...or if anyone knows what happens with these hearing tests.....here's my story:
Before his first deployment to iraq, his hearing was NOT good, he failed his first test and he was suppose to go back to the ear doctor for a 2nd test but the lady giving him the test didn't even DO the paperwork! (Which the lady who gave him the ear test this month told him he should have never been deployed in the 1st place! & that she was an idiot!) So now hes deploying again this month, BUT he took his hearing test and FAILED it of course, after a yr of being in iraq. The lady said his hearing has gotten worse & hes scheduled to go back for a 2nd test from the ear doc next week. This determines whether he leaves or not. I'm so stressed yet hopeful that he will fail, he thinks he's going to because he knows his hearing has gotten worse, he speaks louder than he used to, & he hears ringing sometimes.

Sept. 29 is the first anniversary of the day that a true hero selflessly gave his life to save the lives of his comrades.

Micheal A. Mansoor a member of Navy Seals was awarded the Silver Star in May 2006 when he and another team member pulled a fellow SEAL to safety while bullets ricocheted off the ground in Ramadi, Iraq.

Then on Sept. 29, 2006, Mikey and four of his fellow soldiers were manning a rooftop structure being used as a sniper hideout. Mikey was near the doorway when a grenade thrown by an Iraqi insurgent hit him in the chest and then bounced to the floor without exploding. In a motion as natural as breathing, Mikey jumped on the grenade and shielded his comrades from the blast. ''He never took his eye off the grenade, his only movement was downward toward it,'' said a lieutenant who was injured in the blast. ''He undoubtedly saved mine and the other SEALs' lives and we owe him.'' Mikey gave his life for those around him in an act of unbelievable self sacrifice.
