Sept. 29 is the first anniversary of the day that a true hero selflessly gave his life to save the lives of his comrades.

Micheal A. Mansoor a member of Navy Seals was awarded the Silver Star in May 2006 when he and another team member pulled a fellow SEAL to safety while bullets ricocheted off the ground in Ramadi, Iraq.

Then on Sept. 29, 2006, Mikey and four of his fellow soldiers were manning a rooftop structure being used as a sniper hideout. Mikey was near the doorway when a grenade thrown by an Iraqi insurgent hit him in the chest and then bounced to the floor without exploding. In a motion as natural as breathing, Mikey jumped on the grenade and shielded his comrades from the blast. ''He never took his eye off the grenade, his only movement was downward toward it,'' said a lieutenant who was injured in the blast. ''He undoubtedly saved mine and the other SEALs' lives and we owe him.'' Mikey gave his life for those around him in an act of unbelievable self sacrifice.

I was actually just thinking about that very Marine the other day.

God Bless Him.

Micheal A. Mansoor was a true hero. He died the most Honorable death in the military. The lives he saved will always be remembered. Today myself and all eight people in my office will bow are heads in a moment of silence. We are all soldiers for the United States Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg. We understand how important a life is in the military. I don't personally know the hero, however I respect his services and commitment to his fellow comrades. For anyone who knows Micheal A. Mansoor, remember the way he lived. When you are deployed, its about your buddy to your right and left. Micheal displayed true courage and honor. Please show appreciation and love. For Micheal A. Mansoor is a true hero.

As a long time military member it would be an honor to devote a moment of silence to a fallen comrade in arms.

Rest in Peace

One can only have the utmost respect for people like him.

Now I want to raise another, if somewhat (to some, very) controversial point.
Many Muslims regard their 'suicide bombers' in the same light as we look at Mansoor.
For them it is also 'an act of unbelievable self sacrifice'.
A sobering thought, isn't it?

I think about those that serve. The steel hail takes its victims blindly. Mansoor was exceptionally brave, but I honor all those who step out into the heavy weather.
