I have been fascinated by military hardware everysince I was a Kid, in particular anything Bazooka like.

I remember Rambo's RPG and the Soviets in Afghanistan getting destroyed by their own RPG systems (by Mujahideen).

Sadly, in today's world, it is the US soldiers + Marines that suffer at the virtues of this classic weapon.

And with our high-tech inclination to war fighting it is especially frustrating to see looses happen where they need not occur.

I understand that their is an Anti-RPG system (Trophy) deployed by Israel (Rafael corp), so why don't we use it too?

I understand military has protocol for adopting systems, but in this You tube clip all of their excuses seem to be answered so what gives?

I just don't understand why we haven't addopted trophy already (IF EVEN ON A TEMPORARY BASIS)?

Thank you for sharing your pont of view

The trophy system isn't operational and is very heavy requiring the device to be mounted on and APC or tank. The U.S. is planning on developing a smaller/lighter version that can be mounted on humvees.

Slat armor has been effective against RPGs (it's that fence like structure you can see on strykers). Most of the deaths have not been from RPGs. There has been more attention spent on IEDs which have been the main killers.

Don't be so sure LIL_TXN,

The US Military didn't want to provide the turret upgrades for the Mike 113 in Iraq or upgrades for the MG turrets in Hummers even though thousands of turrets were sitting back in the USA.

The Front-line Combat troops always get the pointed end of the stick first from the tightwads in the Defense Department then the REMF taking all the good gear for themselves back at base.

Trophy isnt something you want yourslef to be outside the Vehicle when it goes off, basically its a Claymore.

speeding pellets and Dismounts/Civilians dont play well together if you can picture it.

OK.
Tell me why Israeli army lost 44 tanks in one week during Second Lebanese War (2006)?

Just a reminder: Hizballah fighters were armed mostly with RPG-7 and rarely with RPG-29 "Vampire".

I personnally wouldn't believe a thing that comes out of Oberman's piehole. If we had the technology it would be on the ground.
