Does any know when the USS Nimitz ship comes home from deployement?

Ships movements are classified 48 hours prior to movement. However, ...you may be able to contact the Command Ombudsman (call the Nimitz Beach detachment for the name and number of this person) who may have a general idea of when the ship will be returning to port.

Two come to mind, but neither reached a port with the crew on board. In fact one never reached a port at all. The Flying Dutchman is a legendary tale of a ship compelled to sail the Oceans until eternity. The Marie Celeste was a ship found crew less and abandoned on the high seas. The Legend of the Flying Dutchman was perpetuated in the opera of the same name by Richard Wagner. It has also been made into a film which starred Ava Gardner and James Mason. Edit: Source added.

all authorized family members will be notified..IN PERSON and not over phone or internet when the Ombudsman is cleared to do so. Most official notice I have gotten has been 2 weeks. The information will NOT be released publicly until just before they pull in..typically 48-72 hours out.

My husband was on the USS Iwo Jima and we didn't know the date they would return until 2 days before.

It is traditional in England to put a pineapple on the gate to your door when your family's ship comes home.
