I understand that 50% of the Army's Infantry Battalions are in the Army National Guard.

We were told by the high echelons of the army that the 'fog of war' made it confusing. 'I love working for Uncle Sam/makes me know just who I am'...allegedly. This is not a new thing - on the other side of the coin (and the mass of agua known as the Atlantic), we're not too clean in the UK with certain soldiers in Iraq thinking it's 1942, with everything to play for (and the press hurrah-ing their actions) - but the British public receiving bits of news here and there of soldiers and battalions acting like bullies in playgrounds...but with guns against innocent Iraqis who they decided to snatch from the streets because most were bored.
Why do the people amongst the most powerful in the world have this need to Rambo-ise and 'sex-up' stories? They do their countries no good...we may have got away with it 65 years ago, but the ease in which we all can attain truth about wars today should have made US come to their senses.

So the United States Air Force has finally begun to bring into service the next-generation F-22 and, in a few years, the F-35 (Joint Strike Fighter).

Each F-22 costs around $160,000,000 and in order to do this, the Air Force is having to Force Shape and downsize by about 40,000 jobs.

In a time where its current fighters are still well ahead of the rest of the world and the Air Force still operates tankers and bombers that are reaching 50+ years of age, is it still worth buying these super-expensive airplanes right now over updating and improving the rest of the Air Force?

I had my house broken into and the Cops said there was nothing they could do about it. They seem to have time for giving honest tax paying citizens tickets though. Maybe the cops are afraid of the crooks and its safer and easier to bust the good guys for making a mistake.

If someone gets a 'dishonourable discharge' from the army what would this mean they have done?

I recently got told that this guy who i thought left the army cause of injury, was discharged cause he left on his own without telling anyone, he went "awol" or "awall", i don't remember which word was correct, but i still don't understand it. Can someone please explain it. thanks.

i have been wondering, if they are part of the people, meaning they work in the police, hospitals, schools...etc how could you know who is a terrorist and who isnt in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. lately i have felt very bad for all the trageties that enocent people are facing in Iraq and Aghanistan. i have heard that thousands of them have been beheaded as part of a training for the terrorists so that one day they may do it to us in europe and America. how can we stop these people and put thier savage souls to an end?
my mate showed me this video and i just cant get it out of my head, its driving me crazy to think that people are treated like that, how could humans do this to each other. if this is a war against christians why are they killing thier own muslim people. why do some people think we should get out of Iraq right now and leave them just like that. have you seen those video, i will advice you not to, they have a very bad impact on your brain.

I'm a first year Air Force ROTC cadet, well last week after the detachment went to dinner a upperclassman cadet pulled me aside and told me that maybe I should "consider" other options then ROTC, because my personality is not what the Air Force needs. What the heck does that mean? I'm trying to pursue a career in public affairs and he wants me to change my personality. I'm a people person, I'm the kind of person that listens and considers all options before I consider doing something rash. Just because I don't want to become a pilot, doesn't mean that I'm not Air Force officer material does it?

Wasn't Saddam enough for the poor Iraqis? If this is winning..then what is losing like to Americans?

After all...it seems that every other nation on earth can do better. And if Iraq is any indication of America's "powerful" military..the US is lucky no one wants it.
