If they did, then wouldn't massing 200,000 troops in Kuwait (a vital oil conduit for the West and a sworn enemy of Saddam ) while steadily beating the war drums for two months, have to go down in history as the most reckless and assinine military stategy ever?

I am currently serving in Baghdad.... I had no complaints about the money we make here... it is tax-free, I get hazardous duty pay, I still get my special allowances. My monthly take home comes out to around $3,500 a month, which is not bad....

I just had a discussion with an Austrailian co-worker and they are getting a ridiculous amount more! He is bringing home about $12,000 a month!

Why are the Aussies getting paid so much more? One of the biggest differences is that while we get $225 a month for our hazardous duty, etc, Aussies are making $150 A DAY!! They are evidently talking about raising it to $200 a day!

I wish I'd never found out. I think what I'm getting is pretty fair and I am not one to complain- I just don't understand why there is such a giant difference (and no, he doesn't do anything extraordinarily special; it is pretty standard for all Aussies serving in Iraq). Any ideas?

See what your troops are getting? Peanuts, compared to other countries' militaries.

If there was a major quake or terror attack, would they expect government help in the form of National guard or any other military help? Why should they get it?

We have lost the last two wars we have fought in. Does this make us look weak and possibly show an oppurtunity to other nations that hate us?

So the money could be used to help military families who are struggling financially, to provide better veteran health care facilities, to provide increased life insurance policies for the families of the deceased, and to provide for the armor plating of vehicles in combat as well as the vest our troops wear? Should not the American public be asked to sacrifice at the same time that our brave men and women are being asked to(not quite the same type of sacrifice I know.)? Both my father and I fought in two different wars. One demanded total sacrilfice for the cause, the other did not. We won the first and lost the second one. Can we expect to win if we at home our not willing to give up our tax decrease windfalls? Is that new boat more important than the lives of American sons and daughters? This administration seems to think so.

I think that the USA must leave Iraq eventually but, we must not leave them until there is peace between all ethnicities including Sunnis and Shiites. This is what is mainly causing the violence in Iraq. The Sunnis don't have a majority like they used to and want more control (Husein and his people were Sunnis) and now the Shiites have control causing the Sunnis to rebel. I think to fix this problem we can recomend that Iraq become a confederacy-like government(this is ok with their current constitution) then they don't have to worry as much about power. This has historically worked in other countries (somewhere in the Baltic and then they gradually got back together). We must also have 6-party talks with other countries such as Turkey. This is because Turkey has actually said they will ivade Khurdistan and they could someway make some treaty between them. I do think that Bush has done very stupid things in this war including starting it but, if we leave there may be genocide.

I want to become a Marine, Im 17 years old with 4 kids (1) is only mine the other 3 are my fiance's which is 29 years old! I really want to join the Marines this May and I talked to a Staff Sergeant and he said since I have my own family and all these kids that my best bet is to go to the Marine Reserves. Is that a smart decision? My step father was in the Marines a long time ago when Vietnam was around and I have his Monster Book they give you a boot camp how much should I study out of his book, since the Marines have changed a lot since then? Are the 45 mags the same and M16's? I know how to put a 45 together and take it apart but not so much a M16 I know everything he's taught me about the 45 and M16 but are they the same or have the changed recently? I want to go into the Marines with as much knowledge as I can and I want to train as much as I can so what are the best things I should do to get myself ready? Training and Knowledge wise what should I know to help me?, and Thank you!
