I'm leaving to basic for the USAF on monday and I was wondering when the military does the record checks, are they going to care about dropped speeding tickets and if so, would a dishonorable discharge be a possibility?

Disregard that last comment about your clearance. It will not affect you. They have already looked into your "criminal" record to see if you've got anything on it. If a ticket was dropped they will not care about it, believe me. I have more than my share and I have a very high clearance.

If you do end up working in intelligence, they will do a MUCH more thorough security investigation on you. I would suggest that you tell them about it then. Like I said, since they were dropped, it won't matter. But if you tell them that you've got a completely clean slate, that was never *wiped* clean ;) and they find out otherwise, then that is different. I wouldn't worry about it otherwise.

EDIT: Please do not misunderstand what I said and think that the AF does not frown upon traffic tickets. It was said by other responders that the tickets are "your problem, not the AF's". Not so... I was counseled many a time for my multiple traffic violations over the years. Trust me, every time I went to court, my supervisor was right there with me. Additionally, any time you get a traffic ticket (on or off base/post) once you are in the military, you are REQUIRED to inform your chain of command immediately. Please take this from someone who is actually IN the Air Force and not someone who say they know what the Air Force thinks about things.

EDIT: Wow, lying buffoon, that's a new one... thank you Mick Jagger...

don't sweat it...
unless you've applied for top secret clearance. if so, then ignore you're recruiter who told you not to sweat it because they'll find it and you're hosed. you won't get dumped out, but kiss the sweet intel or special ops gig good bye. as long as you disclose it up front it won't be a problem at all.
... despite what the lying buffoon below would have you believe the back round check goes on long into the first year you're in. some things that might be over looked, and get caught later. the military's position on the matter is that if you hid one thing there's a possibility you hid more and that leaves you open to black mail from anyone who gains that knowledge. that said, there is zero tolerance for lies or omissions of any sort. anyhoo, this is wasting too much of my time, and i still don't know if clearance is an issue for you.
remember, standard clearance only pops you if you have a felony.

I don't think the military care about speeding tickets they are your problem not the military's.. as for a dishonorable discharge you would have to commit a serious breech of military law for that to happen

Nope. Dropped tickets don't bother them. Outstanding warrants bother them. Drug charges and domestic violence charges(even misdemeanors) bother them. But traffic and parking tickets are common and practically victimless crimes to them.

If you are already scheduled to go off for basic, I think they already checked you. Have fun. I respect your decision.
